OnePlus 5 Original

Focus on what matters, they said.

Focus on what? 8GBs of RAM, a Dual Camera Setup or a device very similar to an Apple Flagship. Oops!

Well, OnePlus 5 might have been inspired a lot from iPhone 7 Plus in the looks department, but it’s loaded on the inside. It’s slim, light and fast. A device which can single handedly beat some of the best flagships in the world. On the outside, OnePlus 5 hasn’t done much anything new, but in all, they have made a pretty good phone.

The Built and Display

OnePlus 5 might look a lot like the iPhone 7 Plus, but the anodized aluminum body with a solid metal built is smooth and and ultra-premium feel. The 5.5 inch screen as OnePlus 3T offers a 1080p Full HD Display with slightly curved plate of Gorilla Glass 5. One might complain of not including the Quad HD, but the Optic AMOLED display is crisp and sharp with great viewing angles.

Solid Hardware

Options of 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage (only Midnight Black Variant available) and 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage (only Gunmetal Grey Variant available), both the variants offer premium experience with Qualcomm’s flagship chipset Snapdragon 835 onboard. With an impressive RAM management, it can run some dozens of apps at the same time with no lags. From high end games to what not, it can run anything under the sun.

Sleek Software

OnePlus 5 will be running the new OxygenOS 4.5 (an almost stock Android experience) with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. To empower your control over the phone and enrich your overall experience, OnePlus has added some helpful tweaks with some new options. Do Not Disturb mode for gaming, which will automatically block the notifications from rolling in when you are in between a game, the new Kindle Grayscale reading mode, which will certainly be easier on the eyes, customising the phone vibration, night mode (which automatically activates with the sunset) and much more.

OnePlus5 Sides

Damn, the Camera!

With Dual Camera setup on the back, OnePlus has certainly crafted off a masterpiece with the camera. A 16-megapixel main camera which can take some really good pictures. Like really, really good. With quick focusing and f/1.7 aperture, even dim shots come out brighter than expected. The other 20-megapixel telephoto camera is very helpful, and a higher resolution sensor for the zoom camera takes up some great shots. The 16-megapixel front shooter takes crisp selfies with accurate colours.

Overall Performance

OnePlus 5 performs great in almost all the departments. Smoother interface to great performance, it excelled in every aspect. With the same sealed 3,300mAh battery as OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5 can last around 20 percent longer because of the new chipset. A single day’s charge, in thirty minutes with Dash Charging would save your bad days. On a single charge, it can easily last for more than a day.

Things OnePlus 5 Missed Out on

  1. No Waterproofing
  2. No Quad HD Display
  3. No Preloaded Google Assistant

OnePlus has made a phone which would be very, very hard to dislike. It’s lighting fast, loaded with great features, has a superb camera and an awesome battery life with a clean Android version on board. With that price tag, we can’t think of anything better than OP 5!
