Reliance Retail has taken a major step in scaling its quick commerce footprint, operationalising more than 600 dark stores nationwide. The move aims to accelerate deliveries to under 30 minutes, further cementing JioMart’s leadership in the hyper-local delivery space. These stores serve as strategically placed fulfillment hubs that ensure faster order turnaround and improved delivery efficiency.

Record Growth in Orders and Customer Base
According to Reliance Retail CFO Dinesh Taluja, JioMart has recorded an impressive 42% quarter-on-quarter and 200% year-on-year growth in average daily orders. During the September quarter, the platform added 5.8 million new customers, marking a 120% quarterly increase in user acquisition. JioMart now operates across 5,000 pin codes, serviced by 3,000 stores in over 1,000 cities, making it one of India’s largest e-commerce ecosystems.
Expanding Beyond Groceries
JioMart, initially focused on grocery delivery, is now extending its quick-delivery promise to electronics and accessories across 10 cities, ensuring doorstep delivery within 30 minutes. This diversification signals Reliance Retail’s ambition to challenge established quick commerce players such as Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and BigBasket across multiple product categories.
Dark Stores: The Backbone of 30-Minute Delivery
Reliance’s strategy blends its physical retail presence (19,821 stores spanning 77.8 million sq. ft.) with dark store infrastructure. These dark stores are placed in high-demand pockets where traditional stores cannot meet the 30-minute delivery target. This hybrid network allows JioMart to efficiently fulfill orders within a three-kilometre radius, balancing scale and speed.
Strong Financial Performance
For the September quarter, Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL) reported an 18% rise in gross revenue to ₹90,018 crore and a 21.9% jump in profit after tax to ₹3,457 crore. For FY 2024–25, Reliance Retail posted total revenues of ₹3.30 lakh crore, underscoring the company’s rapid expansion and operational efficiency.
