Because the price of Celkon Campus Nova is so low, it obviously is low on specifications. However, for some one who is graduating from a feature phone, it is surely a big upgrade with all features available to them of Android.
The phone comes with Android Jellybean 4.2 and has a 3.5 inch capacitive screen. It has 256 MB Ram, 512 MB ROM with 32 GB expandable memory, 2 MP camera and a decent 1400 mAH battery.
This phone is currently available on Snapdeal exclusively and is available at Rs. 1999 as a Diwali promotional sale.
Videocon Vstyle Smart – Rs. 2180
Videocon Vstyle Smart currently stands at number 2 position as far as the cheapest Android phone available in Indian market. Given that it is available for just above Rs. 2000, the specs are average at best. This dual sim phone has a 3.5-inch screen and come with 1GHz single core processor. What really puts it down is low 128mb RAM and old Gingerbread 2.3.5 Android OS.
As for the other features, it does have FM recording, a rear 1.3mp camera, GPRS connectivity and 1300 mAh battery that should last you a day.
If you are on a budget, and just want a phone for making calls, we would recommend it, otherwise, this is not going to be ideal for people who want to play games or use other apps consistently
Spice Full Touch MI-347 – Rs. 2299
This dual sim phone from Spice currently ranks third on the cheapest Android phone list in India. Currently it is only available on HomeShop18, but at Rs. 2299/-, it is a good choice and value for money.
The phone sports a 3.5-inch multi-touch screen and operates on relatively newer Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, which is big plus. The phone has a 1Ghz single core processor and support OTG, which may be useful to many. While the phone is quite cheap, the gold back gives it a nice high-end phone feel. so if you are looking for something that looks good, you should seriously consider this phone.
Coming to the battery capacity, this phone’s battery capacity of 1300 mAh, that should easily give you a day of usage. In addition, this Android phone is equipped with an internal memory of 512 MB, expandable memory up to 32 GB using microSD and 256 MB RAM. Lastly, it features 2 MP primary camera and other inbuilt entertaining features like MP3 player, radio, Wi-Fi and GPRS.

As of Feb 15, Intex Aqua R3 is the cheapest Android phone that sports the latest Android 4.4 KitKat Operating system, so if you are looking for latest OS on budget, this is the one for you. This phone also has 512MB RAM, that makes it the cheapest phone with half GB of RAM.
As far as the specs go, Aqua R3 sports a 3.5-inch screen and sports a dual Sim (GSM, GSM). This is also the phone that supports micro-sim rather than a normal one. It has a 1400 mAh battery and an expandable storage of 32GB. It sports a 2 megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera.

It has an inbuilt 512 MB memory coupled with 256 MB RAM and it supports external memory of which can be extended Up to 32 GB extensible memory. The processor is 1 GHz, Chipset: SC6820 processor & has a 1500 mAH battery.
The only downside of this phone is that it runs on an age-old Android 2.3.6 version. If you are ok with that, this could be one of the budget Android phones you should consider.
Celkon A9+ – Rs. 2499
Another budget phone you should definitely give a look is Celkon A9+. With it price dropping by about Rs. 500 recently, this phone has definitely become a value for money phone.
