Linkedin has now crossed 20 million users in India, the second largest after US. According to the official announcement, this number was crossed sometime earlier this month.
Sine June 2011, Linked has added 10 million users in India.
Key Insights on Linkedin India users
TCS employees outnumber any other Indian company on Linkedin, followed by Infosys, IBM and Accenture. Out of the Top 10 companies, 8 are Software services companies while the other 2 are banks namely HDFC and ICICI Banks.
Most in-demand company for employment goes to Accenture followed by HP, Oracle, IBM and Microsoft.
Titles & Designations
Out of all the designations that Indian users put on their Linkedin profile, “Owner” is the most popular one, followed by “Manager” and “Software Engineer”.
Interestingly, even though Linkedin is a professional site, many students already have their profiles up. “Student” forms 4th most popular title amongst all Indian users.
Industries and Location
Unsurprisingly “IT services” Industry has maximum number of profiles listed followed by “Computer software”. Accounting is the 3rd most popular vertical among Indian Linkedin users.
Ganganagar, Jalandhar and Delhi-NCR users use words like love, passion and dream job showing that people from these cities love their job more than any one else.
When it coms to skills, “management” is listed by maximum number of professionals in India. “Sales” as a skill is also one of the most frequently listed skill followed by “Training” and “Analysis”
University of Mumbai, Delhi University and Anna University have maximum profiles listed under their name.
It is interesting that 79 percent of the Indian professionals believe luck plays an important part in their careers, while 69 percent of women professionals consider that their careers and completely successful.
And, some of the interesting keywords used by Linkedin users in India on their profiles are – Yoga, Cricket, Bollywood and Curry!
Hmmm…who would want to show “curry” on their profiles…A chef maybe…
