Hiring outside metros
A substantial portion of hiring will take place in tier-II and tier-III cities where they can work from home or from anywhere.
The company’s India business is involved mainly in financial services, retail, consumer industry, travel and healthcare.
It is present in about 20 cities and in most of the tier-I and tier-II cities it is “already there”.
Hence the endeavor for next 18 months to add further staff in Tier-II cities and experiment with a few Tier-III cities as well.
It may not establish a physical presence in Tier-III cities to start with, but employees there will be able to work from anywhere.
25% increase in workforce
Currently, the company, which is the world’s largest BPO, employs 80,000 workers across 70 Indian cities.
Anish Mukker was recently named as the organization’s new CEO for India.
He said that India has added a net total of 25,000 new jobs which is an increase of 25%.
Uplifting minorities and women
Aside from regular hiring the company will also prioritize employing members of the LGBTQ community and elevating more women to executive positions.
He said that they “want to empower people in India, especially women and the disabled, by creating more jobs.”
He also said that giving women the option to work from home makes it simpler to access their talent.
Currently, 40% of the workforce is made up of women, therefore it will have a wide range of effects if more women are promoted.
Expanding physical presence
The business will increase its physical presence with new offices.
It has recently opened locations in Hyderabad and Gurgaon.
Additionally, a DLF Downtown Gurgaon location and a Mohali location with an Olympic theme will shortly open.
At the same time it will also promote more individuals working remotely through a programme dubbed Cloud Campus.
How India matters
Currently 40% of its India staff work from home which will eventually reach 50%
Mukker said that India has an edge over other countries with access to vast pools of talent across customer experience, analytics and technology, “which are now indispensable to the world’s leading industries”.
His main focus is on making Teleperformance India the “powerhouse of deep expertise and leverage the intellectual capital of Teleperformance global, to rapidly expand the reach of our services to international clients.”
