1 Lakh Tata Punch Sold In 10 Months: Becomes Fastest SUV Ever To Breach 1 Lakh Sales Record!

Tata Motors has achieved a huge milestone in its long journey – the company has recently rolled out the 100,000th unit of the Punch mini SUV!

This makes it the fastest SUV to record this production figure!

Tata Punch Clocks 100,000 Unit Sales In Only 10 Months Of Arrival

What is even more impressive is that the Tata Punch mini SUV was launched in the market only 10 months ago. It has consistently been counted among India’s top 10 selling cars since October 2021.

In July 2022, the mini SUV clocked its highest ever monthly sales by selling 11,007 units. 

According to Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., the success of Punch speaks volumes about the overwhelming response of customers.

The Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 86bhp and 113Nm. It is available with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT transmission. The latter has automatic engine start/stop capability, which improves fuel efficiency. The manual version of the mini SUV gets 18.97kmpl and the automatic version gets 18.82kmpl. 

It also has traction modes, as seen on some larger Tata SUVs. The Punch can accelerate from 0 to 60kmph in 6.5 seconds and from 0 to 100kmph in 16.5 seconds.

Tata Motors To Launch CNG Variant of Tata Punch?

The mini SUV model lineup is divided into four categories: Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative. 

A 7.0-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, IRA connected car tech, auto climate control, puddle lamps, rear seat centre console, rear seat centre armrest, cooled glovebox, power folding wing mirrors, LED DRLs, auto headlamps and wipers, and projector headlamps are among the exclusive features of the Creative trim.

Tata Motors is also planning to launch the Tata Punch CNG variant.

The CNG version will have slightly lower power and torque figures than the standard petrol model. The power output will be around 70-75bhp, with a torque figure of 100Nm. It will only be available with a manual transmission. The Punch CNG will have a fuel efficiency of approximately 30km/kg.
