iPhone 15 Pro Said To Feature Under Display Camera, Type C Port
iPhone 15 Pro models are tipped to come with an under-display front-facing camera. Samsung is reportedly developing “microscopic transparent windows which can be opened in the cathode and OLED pixel layers” enabling a display to be completely transparent. Apple could use the technology to equip the selfie camera and Face ID sensors under the display. The non-Pro models will have the notch for one more year.
At the same time, iPhone 15 lineup is being rumored to be the first iPhones to sport the USB Type-C port instead supporting the Lightning cable.
Popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in the latest tweet said the iPhone 15 lineup will feature USB Type-C port and not the Lightning cable.
Coming to the under display camera, iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models are speculated to be using the next-gen under-display camera developed by Samsung and OTI Lumionics.
Also, the iPhone 15 Pro phones are said to feature a 5x periscope lens in 2023. The leak hints at iPhone 15 Pro models with 5x periscope camera, as analyst Jeff Pu earlier reported.
iPhone 15 Pro models will come with a periscope lens with 5x optical zoom. According to him, the company has already received samples of the unit. Once approved, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, lens maker Lante Optics could deliver 100 million units of the periscope lens to Apple.
iPhone 15 series will become the first-ever iPhones to feature a periscope lens. The rumor mill also suggested that iPhone 15 series in 2023, models will come without any SIM card slot.
While some suggest that it could be as early as this year. The upcoming iPhone series could also become the first devices to ship without a physical SIM card slot. Apple will start phasing out physical SIM card slots soon to feature an eSIM-only design for better water resistance, a sleeker design and compact factor .
Coming to the upcoming Phone 14 series this year, it will include a new model, iPhone 14 Max and will launch in September, said to come with a similar display and an in-display fingerprint sensor. There will be four models under the new series: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. All the iPhone 14 models will come with 120Hz displays along with 6GB RAM.
Earlier iPhone 14 Pro models have been tipped to feature punch-hole displays along with 8GB RAM. The 6.06-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max have been tipped to use LG Display LTPO 120Hz OLED panels.
MacRumors reported the iPhone 14 Pro variants will pack in a 48MP main camera and 8GB of RAM. The company is said to introduce a new model at the lowest price ever with a 6.7-inch screen in the iPhone 14 series and all the Pro models will offer 120Hz refresh rate displays. But the new report contradicts and says the standard iPhone 14 models of 6.06-inch and 6.7-inch version will still have a notch, and not expected to support 120Hz refresh rates.
