After Zomato, Ola Kickstarts 10-Min Food Delivery In This City; Swiggy May Soon Follow The 10-Min Delivery Trend!

Following in the footsteps of restaurant aggregator Zomato are Swiggy and Ola, who are now planning to introduce the 10 minute delivery idea on their platforms.

In March, Zomato had announced that it will start delivering food in an instant of 10 minutes, starting soon.

Ola Begins 10 Minute Deliveries Under Ola Dash

Indian cab aggregator Ola has already begun offering some specific food items in certain parts of Bengaluru within 10 minutes. Ola has also introduced a new arm for this vertical, called Ola Dash. Ola is delivering “freshly prepared” khichdi, pizza, and rolls.

On the other hand, Zomato’s main competition, Swiggy is also exploring faster food delivery. However, if it is promising 10-minute delivery or not is not clear yet.

Ola will reportedly use the facilities of food robotics startup Mukunda Foods. This is interesting because the latter recently picked up $5 million from Zomato for a 16.66% stake. Mukunda Foods has a lot of clients across top cloud kitchens and standalone eateries.

Mukunda Foods Collaborates With Swiggy, Zomato, Ola

As per reports, Mukunda Foods will have a huge role in enabling and running Zomato’s Instant. The chief executive of Mukunda Foods, Eshwar Vikas has said that the company does not have an exclusivity clause with Zomato and was working with all three firms.

Mukunda Foods makes machines that reportedly reduce cooking time by 20-50% for Chinese and Indian dishes.

Swiggy is also in talks with Mukunda Foods to use its smart robotic equipment to automate the cooking process in its cloud kitchens for some of its private labels, as per Vikas.

Zomato Bought One Food Station In Gurugram

Zomato has already taken one food station in Gurugram live for making 10-minute food deliveries within a small set of users. Zomato’s spokesperson has already confirmed that one food station has already been taken for making 10-minute food deliveries within a small number of users.

The company spokesperson confirmed that Zomato has ordered multiple machines from Mukunda Foods for about 15-20 cooking facilities, with the average cost of a machine being Rs. 1.5 lakh.

We have previously reported that Zomato will start a pilot with four stations in Gurugram from April. Zomato will provide bestseller items which will include some 20-30 dishes across its finishing stations from the partner restaurants based on predictability. The company also claims that after implementing the 10-minute model, the prices of the items will also get reduced.
