Tata Motors Will Launch A New Electric SUV On April 6th: No, It’s Not Nexon 2022!

Another teaser for its upcoming EV concept has been launched by Tata Motors. This seems to be its upcoming coupe-style midsize SUV.

As a matter of fact, it is no secret that Tata Motors is working on a new midsize SUV for the Indian market. This new SUV will fit between the Nexon and Harrier in the line-up of the brand.

It is on the 6th April that the upcoming electric concept SUV will be debuted by the automaker.

Few clues about the exterior design were given in the latest video teaser for this forthcoming EV concept.

Exterior Design

With the LED DRLs stretching horizontally across the front end of the bonnet, along with triangular LED lights positioned low on the front bumper, the SUV seems to have a split headlamp setup. The sloping rear windscreen and the sporty roof-mounted spoiler can also be seen. According to speculations, the SUV seems to have a coupe-inspired design.

Roof rails, air vents, unique alloy wheels (with the brand’s logo on the hub), and an EV badge are other design elements. As most of the design remains hidden, these individual elements cannot really be interpreted. We are surely excited for the reveal as the EV concept looks very interesting.

When it comes to the exterior design, the production cars of Tata are not having significant deviation as compared to their concept versions. Hence we expect this concept EV to be showcased not as a design study, but as a model that is part-way through the development stage.

Technical Specifications

The new midsize SUV by Tata shall be available in both, IC engine as well as EV. Most likely around next year, the EV version is to go on sale. This EV model will lock horns with the likes of Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV in the Indian market. One can hope that the technical specifications of the electric SUV are revealed by Tata during the concept debut.

It would be most likely in the second half of 2023 that the IC engine version will arrive. The IC engine shall have two choices: a 1.5L turbocharged petrol unit and a 1.5L turbocharged diesel unit. As far as the gearbox options are considered, both manual as well as automatic options will be offered. The IC engine version will in turn go head to head with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, etc.
