Oneplus Co-Founder Aims To Disrupt Android With ‘Nothing’ Smartphone: This Is What We Know So Far

This Summer, India will see the launch of a brand new smartphone launch by Nothing. Headed by Carl Pei, Nothing is a new age consumer tech company. It is popular for its earphones, and just like the earphones, the company is promising something new and exciting to the users with its smartphone. It will launch in India this summer, although the exact date and the details of the smartphone and the launch are not known.

VP & GM of Nothing India, Manu Sharma said that the first smartphone of Nothing company, namely, Nothing Phone (1) will not be for everyone but for those who are design conscious and tech enthusiast.

The phone shall be entirely different from other smartphones. India could expect the launch of the phone between July and August 2022 period.

Not Your Ordinary Smartphone

Nothing shall build a smartphone that will look entirely different from what the consumers have seen or are using. He added that if one is take any phone and remove the logo, then it can be seen that most of the smartphones look the same. However, Nothing Phone (1) will change this game.

It will be really interesting to see how the company can pull something off like this in the smartphone market. The phone will run on the Android OS with Nothing OS skin on top.

When it comes to the operating system then just like OxygenOS, Pei’s team under his direction is executing another great OS.

“Most Compelling Alternate” To Apple

Sharma said that this phone is not for the people who are looking for the budget options. It is built for delivering a powerful experience, an iconic design, and the best of Android to the users and hence might not be one of the affordable options.

In an event, speaking about Nothing, Carl Pei is building an ecosystem of products that are going to lock horns with Apple and also be the “most compelling alternative” to it.

Since Pei has a lot of experience building smartphones at OnePlus, hence his statement of taking on Apple, carries a lot of weight. Nothing Phone (1) should be a stock Android smartphone with a very powerful processor inside.
