Mukesh Ambani Only Indian In Top 10 Billionaire List; Adani Earned Rs 6000 Cr/Week!
Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) chief Mukesh Ambani is the only Indian individual who is featured in the list of the world’s top 10 billionaires, according to a report consolidated by research platform Hurun in coordination with real-estate group M3M.
The report is titled ‘The 2022 M3M Hurun Global Rich List’ and it stated that Ambani occupied the 9th rank on a global scale with a net worth of $103 billion.
Richest Indian billionaires
Amongst Indian billionaires, Adani has ranked second with a net worth of $81 billion, Shiv Nadar and family ranked third with a net worth of $28 billion, and Cyrus Poonawalla ranked fourth with wealth of $26 billion and Lakshmi Mittal ranked fifth with $25 billion.
Other top 10 billionaires in India included RK Damani and family and SP Hinduja and family—with a net worth of around $23 billion each, followed by Aditya Birla’s Kumar Mangalam Birla and family and Dilip Shanghvi and family both of whom had net worths of $18 billion.
With a wealth of $16 billion, Uday Kotak, MD of Kotak Mahindra Bank, is the tenth richest person in India, the press note added.
Richest people in the world
On the global scale, the top three billionaires on the list are – Elon Musk – founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Jeff Bezos – Amazon’s executive chairman, and Bernard Arnault – LVMH CEO.
Cyrus Poonawalla – chief of Serum Institute of India, RK Damani – founder of D-Mart and Lakshmi Mittal the steel magnate are the three Indian newcomers in the list of top 100 global billionaires. Nykaa’s founder Falguni Nayar with a net worth of US$7.6 billion has been added to the Hurun Global Rich List 2022.
Number of Billionaires in India
India has 215 billionaire residents with 58 new additions. The country is the third biggest billionaire producing nation in the world, according to the Hurun statement. The number sits at 249 if Indian origin billionaires are included, it said.
Over the last decade, Indian billionaires in the 2022 M3M Hurun global rich list increased their cumulative wealth by $700 billion which is equal to Switzerland’s GDP and twice the GDP of the UAE, the report said.
There are 72 billionaire residents in Mumbai, followed by 51 billionaire residents in New Delhi and 28 billionaire residents in Bengaluru.
