Xiaomi 12 Has Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Chip: Global Launch Expected (Price? Specs?)
- Xiaomi 12 will have a global version
- Someone has posted a prototype of the global model to the ranks of Geekbench
- The global version of Xiaomi 12 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset just like the chinese version
It should come as a surprise to no-one that Xiaomi 12 will have a global version because it’s predecessor, the Mi 11 was also launched globally after it’s initial release in China. Xaomi 12 was revealed in the Chinese market last month and is expected to make a global debut soon.
Xiaomi 12 posted on Geekbench
Someone has posted a prototype of the global model to the ranks of Geekbench. This has resulted in a listing of the phone being found on Benchmark’s online database.
This has revealed that the global version of Xiaomi 12 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset just like the chinese version. Previously, the ‘taro’ motherboard was considered as Qualcomm’s latest and greatest. It is still not clear if the global Xiaomi 12 will have a 12GB RAM variant like it has in China.
The software ran by the prototype was Android 12, so right now it is almost certain that the global version will be launched with it and also with MIUI running on top. It is clear that this is the global version as the model number 2201123G was revealed by a previous certification in Indonesia. The global version of Xiaomi 12 Pro, however, will have the model number 2201122G. This means that unlike the Mi 11 Pro last year, the 12 Pro will also make it to global markets. Which makes sense considering the sheer difference between 12 and 12 Pro. If we consider this point of view, Mi 11’s true successor should be 12 Pro. Obviously, we will also see the release of a 12 Ultra at some point in the year but it will join its siblings later on in this year.
