Although the top spot is stolen by Mumbai when it comes to senior-level jobs, with an average CTC of Rs 35.7 lakh per annum.

Here, junior-level jobs take into account those with 0-5 years of experience.

At the same time, mid-level jobs are 6-14 years, and senior-level are above 15 years of experience.

Junior Level Executive Salary Trends

Interestingly, the report noted that the Junior executives in Bengaluru (Rs 6.71 lakh per annum) on average drew a salary that is 11.6% higher than Hyderabad (Rs 5.93 lakh per annum) which ranks second.

The study shows that the junior executives drew a salary that is, on average 17.8% higher than all its Tier-I counterparts.

Higher Salary In Mumbai

In the case of senior-level jobs, Mumbai ranks 3.4% higher than Bengaluru (Rs 34.5 lakh per annum) and 8.8% higher than the Tier-I cities on average.

In reality, Mumbai’s higher cost of living has pushed the salaries of analytics professionals in these niche sectors northward as compared to all the Tier-1 cities as the study says.

Chandigarh Aced In Tier-II studies

Coming to the Tier-II studies, Chandigarh has aced the chart in salaries paid at the junior (Rs 5.67 lakh per annum) and mid-levels (Rs 13.70 lakh per annum).

In the case of senior-level jobs, Odisha’s capital city of Bhubaneshwar (Rs 31.15 lakh per annum) tops the list with an average CTC that is on par with the median level of Tier-1 cities.

Chandigarh tops the list For junior-level jobs, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (Rs 5.47 lakh per annum), Kochi (Rs 5.03 lakh per annum), Jaipur (Rs 4.39 lakh per annum) and Nagpur (Rs 4.21 lakh per annum).

Chandigarh also tops the list for mid-level jobs, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (Rs 13.44 lakh per annum), Nagpur (Rs 12.71 lakh per annum), Kochi (Rs 12.08 lakh per annum) and Jaipur (Rs 12 lakh per annum).

Clearly, a premium for the seniority of job levels is seen here, as in Tier-1 cities.

The report says that “On a national scale, and across individual Tier-2 cities, the average mid-level salaries are approximately 2.5 times that of the junior levels (Rs 11.02 and 4.42 lakhs respectively), while the senior level salaries are twice that of the mid-levels (Rs 22.89 and 11.02 lakhs respectively),”.

Over the last decade, the fresher salaries in the IT industry have stagnated as the report noted.

One of the reason is that companies find a good part of the 10-15 lakh engineers who graduate each year are not employable.
