Indian Railways now plans to develop four new bullet train corridors and connect nine more cities to the network. This will now be in addition to the eight networks that the railway ministry is working on.

Four New Bullet Train Corridors Underway; Will Connect Nine Cities

The corridors will reportedly include a 618 km-long corridor between Hyderabad and Bangalore, an 855 km-long route between Nagpur and Varanasi, an 850 km-long way between Patna and Guwahati, and a 190 km-long corridor connecting Amritsar, Pathankot, and Jammu.

The first high-speed rail corridor in India will run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, covering a distance of 508 km. This one is still under construction and will probably be completed by 2026-27, as confirmed by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.

The project is also known as the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project, according to the officials. In this release, Japan has come up with the photos of the E5 Series Shinkansen, which in turn will be modified as a bullet train that will be running between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

The project which was scheduled to be completed by 2023 is likely to be delayed as land acquisition has not been done in Maharashtra.

The draft plan includes several new High-Speed Rail Corridors.

According to this, several bullet train corridors have been identified, and a survey on Delhi-Varanasi High-Speed Rail is already underway.
