A student of the Indian Institute of Technology has received an offer of the highest domestic package of Rs 1.8 crore!

A few days back we got to know about a student of the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee who has received an offer of Rs 2.15 crore per annum. Again a student of IIT Bombay was offered roughly around Rs 2.05 crore by Uber and another student of IIT Guwahati has been offered Rs 2 crores per annum this year.

Nearly 9,000 jobs have been offered to students at India’s top eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Companies Hiring IIT Students With Attractive Packages!

 IIT-Madras 

 IIT Madras, at the end of Phase I, 73 % of students had obtained job offers.

At the end of Phase I, the total number of offers was 1,316, including 231 pre-placement offers.

Phase I attracted a total of 1,500 students. For Phase I of placements, a total of 1,500 students were registered.

 “This year, IIT-Madras students have received 27 Rs. 1 crore+ offers,” said C. S. Shankar Ram, advisor (training & placement), IIT-Madras.

“The institute did not have any (Rs. 1 crore + salary offers) last year. And this includes both domestic and international offers,”


Shankar Ram, also a professor at IIT-Madras, said in an email response on December 23 to queries from Moneycontrol.

77 per cent of students looking for work have gotten offers.

IIT-Kanpur

On December 1, the Indian Institute of Kanpur is done with the first phase of 2021-22 placements.

In the initial phase, students were presented with 1,300 offers, of which 1,100 were accepted. This is in addition to the 156 pre-placement offers they have received, according to the institute.

The highest international offer is USD 287,550 (nearly Rs 2 crore) while the highest domestic offer is Rs 1.2 crore. In total, students have received 49 offers above Rs 1 crore, it added.

IIT-Roorkee 

In the first phase of the placement season, about 1,243 offers were received, including 32 international employment.

 Some 281 companies participated in the first phase and recruited over 80% of the students seeking placement in this hiring season, according to a spokesperson for IIT-Roorkee.

IIT-Kharagpur 

Over 1,600 employment were provided to students at IIT-Kharagpur.

IIT-Guwahati 

IIT-Guwahati is still focusing on the first phase of placements and according to the report around 843 students had received job offers so far.

“The phase-1 placement is still going on. So far, a total of 843 students of IIT-G have been placed. Last year by this time, a total of 610 students were placed,” said Abhishek Kumar, head of the Centre for Career Development at IIT-Guwahati.

IIT (BHU)

IIT (Banaras Hindu University) in Varanasi has grabbed almost 1,100 offers 

“We are far ahead of recruitment this year as compared to the recent past. The companies are keen to hire more and technology firms are making good offers,” said a placement coordinator at IIT (BHU), Varanasi.

IIT-Delhi

According to a report published earlier this week by Moneycontrol, IIT-Delhi students received 1,250 offers.

IIT-Delhi’s placement cell declined to confirm or comment on high-value salary numbers, but said: “The response has been very good, and as a principle we won’t comment on this”.
