Companies In Gurgaon & Haryana Will Hire 75% Locals For These Jobs Under Reservation
The Haryana government enacted the ‘Local Employment Act’ law on November 6, 2021 in the state, as per which there would be 75% job reservation for local residents of the state in the private sector.
Complying with the same law, companies across the state are directed to upload their employees’ data on the state government portal by January 15, 2022, as per the Haryana government’s notification issued on Saturday.
The move comes as the main election promise of Haryana’s Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janta Party.
The legislation, termed as the Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Bill, 2020 was passed last year in November by the assembly, and was later given green signal by Governor SN Arya on February 26.
75% Job Reservation for Haryana Locals
Fulfilling the promise made during state elections, the Haryana government has passed the law to reserve 75% jobs for state locals in the private sector. All companies are directed to upload employees’ data on the state government portal by January 15, 2022.
“Local Employment Act is enacted from today itself, 6th November. 15 January 2021 is the last day for industry to upload their employees’ data on Govt portal,” tweeted JJP Spokesperson Deepkamal Saharan.
As per the Local Employment Act, companies in the state can also choose to hire from outside the local pool for the reserved category, so long as the suitable candidates cannot be found. However, in such a case too, these companies would require to prior inform the government.
Additionally, the law also dictates to appoint a designated officer by the state government, who will oversee if the aforementioned exemption clause is being invoked by any company.
This officer will have the power to overrule the exemption claim by directing the company concerned to “train local candidates to achieve the desired skill, qualification or proficiency”, states an NDTV feed.
