BSNL Officially Beats Jio In This Segment Of Telecom Services!
State run BSNL has now surpassed Reliance Jio in adding wireline broadband subscribers in the month of July 2021.
As per the data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for June 2021, Reliance Jio has added the most number of wireline broadband subscribers in India.
However, the Ambani led telecom services provider has not been able to keep it up in the month of July.
BSNL Surpasses Reliance Jio, Adds 0.50 million Subscribers In July 2021
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has taken Reliance Jio with an addition of 5,06,674 subscribers (0.50 million) in the month of July 2021. This has been followed by Jio, which added 2,59,975 subscribers (0.25 million) in the same month.
Whereas, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea added 1,25,640 (0.12 million) and 11,340 (0.011 million) subscribers in July 2021.
However, this addition is only for wireline subscribers and not wireless subscribers. Nevertheless, this is still a positive indication for BSNL as it shows the value of the company in India in the broadband services segment.
The TRAI report had previously stated that Reliance Jio added around 4.7 million subscribers while BSNL added 95,428 subscribers in March.
On the other hand, Vodafone Idea subscriber base had declined by 6.3 million subscribers in March while Airtel has lost around 1.26 million users. Furthermore, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) is said to have lost 4,645 subscribers.
After Jio, Airtel with a 28.31% market share has emerged as the second largest telco with Vodafone Idea at its tail with a market share of 27.57%. BSNL accounts for 10.35% market share as of March.
