Following the footsteps of the government of Rajasthan, the government of Maharashtra has also announced to slash school fees by 15 percent for the current academic year.

Schools, colleges, and other educational institutions have been shut since the beginning of the pandemic to keep the little ones safe. And the danger of the COVID-19 virus has still not subsided.

Maharashtra School Education Minister Confirms Reduction Of School Fees By 15%

School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has confirmed that school fees will be slashed by 15%. She said, “Maharashtra cabinet today decided to slash school fees by 15 per cent for this academic year. A detailed order of this decision will be issued soon.”

In October 2020, we reported that Gujarat has slashed 25% fees in all private schools, all across the state to become the 1st state in India to implement such an impactful decision for all private school students.

Recently, we reported to you that the Supreme Court observed that as classes have been conducted online for over a year, schools must have saved significantly on overheads and operational costs.

The Karnataka government had reportedly ordered schools to reduce the tuition fees for the current academic year by 30%. In addition, the Odisha government has decided the reduction of tuition fees in all aided and unaided private schools for the 2020-2021 academic session giving a major relief for students and their guardians.

Parents In Maharashtra Demanding Fee Reduction From Maharashtra Government

As per reports, parents’ bodies have been demanding some relief from the state government, especially where school fees are concerned. They have been asking the state government to reduce the school fees because of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

The minister has also stated that the schools that are affiliated with other education boards have informed the government that they will also follow the rules about reducing the school fees. 

Additionally, the government order that will soon be issued will make sure all the issues and intricacies are addressed so that there is no confusion among the parents and school management.

Schools have remained closed in Maharashtra due to the COVID-19 pandemic and also the fear of a third wave.
