US Govt Says Fully Vaccinated Citizens Can Travel To India, Advisory Lowered To Level 3


For India, this is a change after over 2 months when the Level 4 advisory was issued on May 5.

The United States has lowered the travel advisory for India from the highest Level 4, which means absolutely no travel, to Level 3.

This change reflects the pandemic situation in the region.

What This Means

Though Level 3 is slightly more relaxed in terms of travel curbs, it still urges travelers to reconsider their plans.

For Pakistan, a Level 2 Travel Health Notice has been issued, but Level 3 risk for US citizens due to terrorism and sectarian violence there.

Improvement In Pandemic Situation

For India, this is a change after over 2 months when the Level 4 advisory was issued on May 5.

During this time, India was witnessing a prolonged and devastating second wave of the pandemic with more than 300,000 daily new cases being recorded.

CDC’s Advice

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advised future travelers to get vaccinated before leaving so as to lower the chances of contracting COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms.

It has also urged people to go through its specific recommendations for vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers alike.

Canada Extends Ban On Flights

Meanwhile, Canada has barred passenger flights from India till August 21.

The earlier ban was set to be lifted on July 21.

This is the fourth such extension, renewed due to concerns regarding the Delta variant of the virus which is slowly but steadily taking root in the country.

However, people can enter Canada from India on indirect routes.

They will have to furnish pre-departure negative Covid-19 RT-PCR test result from a third country in order to enter Canada.
