Elon Musk’s Satellite Internet Starts In Next 35 Days At Rs 7000/Month: Launch Date in India?
Elon Musk’s satellite network Starlink is all set to beaming global coverage of broadband internet to every corner except the poles, by August, or in the upcoming 5 weeks.
Starlink provides satellite broadband to over 69,000 active users spread in 12 countries currently.
Elon Musk, while speaking at the Mobile World Congress conference held in Barcelona on Tuesday, said that the Starlink service expects to clock about 500,000 users globally by 2022.
While Musk announces for Starlink to get global coverage by August, it does not mean that every country, including India can start using the Starlink service from August right away.
Recent Announcements on Starlink
Elon Musk spoke virtually at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona, Spain on Tuesday.
He informed that the SpaceX’s satellite internet network Starlink has recently surpassed about 70,000 active users in about 12 countries and forays to increase this user base to about 500,000 users in the next 12 months.
The prices of the subscription fee for the service will be set to $99 globally, along with some local taxes.
This means that in India, the satellite broadband service will cost around Rs 7,000 per month, while it is expected to serve India by 2022.
SpaceX aims to offer broadband to as much as 5% of the world’s population where conventional fiber and wireless networks can’t reach.
The satellite network currently moves about 30 terabits of data per second, and Musk said he’s targeting a user latency — or network response time — of less than 20 milliseconds, states Bloomberg.
The company is set to launch a new version of Starlink’s satellites next year that will have inter-satellite laser links to help them cover polar regions.
In February 2021, Stralink rolled out pre-reservation invites in India, for services it would provide in 2022. A deposit fee of $99 would ensure your place for the purchase of the Starlink equipment.
“By placing your Deposit Payment, you have established priority within your region for purchasing the Starlink Kit when available,” stated Starlink.
This deposit fee is 100% refundable and payments are accepted in all forms, including Apple Pay.
