Baleno-based Tata Nexon Rival
A new sub-4m crossover, currently codenamed as YTB is in the works by Maruti Suzuki. It could be be based on the premium hatchback Baleno, as it is referred to as its sister. With Vitara Brezza, the automaker is already in the sub-4m SUV space, but this crossover shall help increase the market share of the company in the SUV space.
New-gen Vitara Brezza
In the SUV space, Maruti Suzuki SUV’s dominance was due to Vitara Brezza as it was once the best-selling sub-4m SUV in the Indian market. However, the market share has been eroded by the entry of modern rivals in the space. Last year, a mid-life facelift for the Vitara Brezza was introduced. The new-gen Vitara Brezza, which shall go neck and neck against rivals like Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet is expected to help the automaker to regain the numbers. This car is expected to be launched by end of the year.
5-Door Jimny
The three-door Jimny Sierra was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, however for the Indian market five door version of the same shall be launched.
The Indian version is expected to be plonked with a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 105 PS and 138 Nm. Along with a shift-on-fly low-range transfer case, Jimny comes with a partial 4×4 configuration. It can be launched in the second half of this year.
S-cross Successor
A new crossover that will be positioned above the Vitara Brezza is to be launched according to the speculations. The sourcing of components of D22, as the car is internally called, expected to be done through Maruti Suzuki is likely be manufactured at Toyota’s manufacturing unit near Bangalore.
This car could be a successor to the S-Cross as it will not be a mid-size SUV, and will be positioned under the segment that currently consists of cars like Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, MG Hector and so on.
Toyota-Maruti Creta Rival SUV
In line with the filing law in December last year, Toyota’s bidadm production facility in Karnataka will be committed to producing a new SUV, under which both products will be sold.
This SUV, in fact, will be the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos-rivaling mid-size SUV that will be placed above the Vitara Brezza in the Maruti Suzuki line, and the Toyota Toyota model will be placed above the Urban Cruiser. The DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) platform is designed specifically for emerging markets and the car will also be based on the same. Enabling the car could be the same fuel tank as the 1.5 liter that works in Vitara Brezza. This engine is capable of producing 105 PS and 138 Nm.
