Indigo, Spicejet, Air Asia Will Not Charge Money For Changing Travel Dates; Is This Helpful?

With Covid-19 cases galloping across the country, state governments have imposed several restrictions to keep a check on this.

This has led to a lot of uncertainty in areas of travel and consequent restrictions.

In light of such events, various airlines like Indigo and Spicejet had announced to offer rescheduling of flight tickets to their passengers, for a given period.

Adding most recently to this list is AirAsia India, which will not charge any fee for passengers rescheduling time and/or date for any ticket(s) booked until May 15.

AirAsia India Allows Passengers Free of Cost Rescheduling

In a press release on Sunday, AirAsia India has announced that it will not charge its passengers for changing the date or time of their journeys booked until May 15.

This step will offer enough flexibility to passengers for rescheduling their journeys, amid the increased uncertainty and travel restrictions, arising due to plummeting infection rates.

According to the press release, “Guests can now make unlimited changes for all bookings and changes made till 15 May, 2021, irrespective of the travel dates, without incurring any flight change fee.”

Indigo & Spicejet Too Providing Flexibilities

While AirAsia India extended rescheduling flexibility offers to its passengers yesterday, Indian airline majors Indigo and Spicejet too extended similar services to their passengers, a day or two prior to AirAsia India’s move. 

On Friday, Indigo informed its passengers that no fee will be charged to change time or date on domestic tickets, booked between April 17 and April 30.

In this given time frame, tickets can be booked for any travel period, and passengers can make unlimited changes on domestic tickets.

Indigo has also mentioned that while no rescheduling fee will be charged during the aforementioned period, there will be no change granted for cancellation fee, continuing to be charged at usual rates.

On Saturday, Spicejet informed its passengers that it will not charge any fee for changing date or time in their tickets, at least five days prior to the departure date.

Usually, the airline charges a zero fee for changes done at least seven days prior to the journey.

However, under the new offering, passengers booking direct domestic flight tickets from April 17 to May 10 can enjoy a one-time waiver on the change fee for the travel period between April 17 and May 15, stated as per the airline’s press release.
