Poco F2 Launch Update, Rebranded Redmi K40? Certified Now, India Launch Soon
Poco F2 launch seems imminent, receives Indonesia Telecom certification. It is being touted to be a rebranded Redmi K40 for a number of markets across Europe and Asia including India. Poco X2 was a rebranded Redmi K30 from last year, and similarly Poco F2 could be a rebranded version of the recently launch Redmi K40. The series further included Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40 Pro+ apart from the vanilla Redmi K40.
The latest Indonesian Telecom certification leak suggests Redmi K40 will launch under Poco.
Redmi K40 global variant with model number M2012K11AG was earlier spotted at the IMDA certification, but not under Redmi brand, but under Poco brand. Poco is infamous for rebranding Redmi phones, and almost all models have been straightaway hits.
To support the lastest certification, again the same Redmi K40 global model has now received the Indonesian Telecom certification, again under the Poco brand, spotted by tipster Mukul Sharma. We are yet to know which Poco model it will be, but it’s expected to be either Poco F2 or Poco X3 Pro. The company is expected to bring in the Pro model soon.
Redmi K40 Price, Availability: Redmi K40 India Launch?
Redmi K40 price in China starts at CNY 1,999 (around Rs 22,400) for base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The mid-end model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage costs CNY 2,199 (around Rs 24,700) while the 8GB model with 256GB storage variant is priced at CNY 2,499 (around Rs 28,000).
Finally, the 12GB RAM 256GB storage model costs CNY 2,699 (around Rs 30,000).

Redmi K40 features a 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED FHD+ display offering 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch response, a tiny 2.76mm punch-hole cutout and a 3.5mm slim bottom bezel. The Redmi phone is powered by Snapdragon 870 SoC coupled with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. It is further expandable with an external microSD card.
Redmi K40 runs on Android 11 based MIUI 12 custom skin out of the box. In terms of optics, Redmi K40 houses a 48MP AI triple camera system at the back.
It includes a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP wide-angle lens and a 5MP macro lens. Upfront, the device features a 20MP camera. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor, 4,520mAh battery, and 33W fast-charging support. It has stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, High-Res audio, and IP53 for dust and water resistance.
Poco F2 Launch Update: Poco F2 India Launch When?
Poco F2 launch could finally be happening, the date tipped is between March and April. Recently Poco’s Country Director Anuj Sharma hinted the smartphone will be powered by a top-end Qualcomm processor and the upcoming Poco smartphone could get unveiled in a few weeks. Poco F2 has earlier been teased officially. Redmi K40 global variant could be Poco F2.
M2012K11AG, the Redmi K40 global model is certified by IMDA and Indonesian Telecom, and not under Redmi brand, but under Poco brand.
Recently the company released a teaser wishing users Happy New Year and thanking India for everything since 2018 and in the video hinted about Poco F2 launch in India.
The clip said, ‘The stage is set! The fun has begun! Let us get ready to take it to the next level’ directly giving out the Poco F2 launch hint.
In the previous video, Poco mentioned that it is all set to make 2021 bigger, and the company will start off the year with the much-awaited smartphone since last two years, Poco F2. Poco was smart enough to mention Poco F2 a few times in the video. According to the rumour mill, Poco F2 will be a mid-range smartphone, and Redmi K40 will probably be the model.
