Android 12 Update, Device List: Special Gaming Mode, Reduced Brightness Quick Setting, New Auto Rotation And More

Android 12 (codenamed Snow Cone) will come with a new one-handed mode with an all-new Auto rotate feature, built-in Gaming Mode and reduced brightness quick setting toggle. The updated auto-rotate mode will work depending upon your position as the front-facing camera will detect when you’re switching from portrait to landscape. Currently the auto-rotate uses combined data from accelerometer and gyroscope sensors.

GameManager service has also been spotted on Android 12 code. It will be Google’s own Gaming Mode API which grants gaming titles control over incoming notifications, brightness and sounds for a more seamless gaming experience. 

There will be a reduced brightness quick setting toggle with which one can quickly decrease the screen brightness by a predetermined amount. 

The first Android 12 Developer Preview may release by February 19.

Android 12 beta preview version is said to be available very soon. 9to5 previously reported a play store update to the Android Beta Feedback app which has been spotted. An early draft of a document leaked Android 12 screenshots revealing a new UI with changes to notification panel, pronounced rounded corners, new privacy features and a new widget selection category. Google is yet to officially confirm any of the details.

XDA Developers claimed the early draft shows some of the changes with the UI, a new notifications panel, an opaque background, pronounced rounded corners for each notification and much more.

The screenshots also leaked four Quick Settings tiles than the usual six. The top right of the notifications panel shows new icons and additional privacy features in Android 12.

While Google is yet to officially reveal anything about the Android 12, the beta builds are hinting at an imminent launch. The previous leak also revealed key details and features.

Android 12 release date is expected around sometime in Q2, 2021 at the Google I/O developer’s conference as the company has been doing since years.

For the Nearby Wi-Fi password sharing to work, the new feature will need both the devices to be on Android 12. Also, a feature called App Pairs will group any two apps from the recent menu. It will join them together to increase the convenience of multitasking. The company is also said to be adding gaming-focused features on Android 12 to offer an immersive gaming experience.

Android 12 release date is expected around sometime in Q2, 2021 at the Google I/O developer’s conference as the company has been doing since years. Android 12 beta version (early) is expected to be made available much-before the announcement. Recent leaks hint at Android 12 beta availability ny February / March.

Last year, Android 11 early beta came out in mid February 2020. There will be around 4 developer beta / preview releases before the stable Android 12 version is rolled out in August / September. The first Android 12 Developer Preview may release by February 19.

Google is reportedly working on a few key features to revamp the overall user experience. It includes an upgraded split-screen multitasking feature with ‘App Pairs’, game controller haptic feedback system when connected to an Android phone, Restricted Network mode and more secure sharing of Wi-Fi passwords with nearby devices.

Android 12 Features Leaked: Android 12 Features, Upgrades

The recent rumours hint at active development of the OS. Google is working on a few features for the upcoming Android 12 operating system. 

• Android 12 will change the app pair and spilt screen feature. Google is said to offer a single screen for both the apps to perform as one single task. Users can pick two of their recently opened apps to become a pair from the recent apps menu. 

• The updated auto-rotate mode will work depending upon your position as the front-facing camera will detect when you’re switching from portrait to landscape. Currently the auto-rotate uses combined data from accelerometer and gyroscope sensors.

• Google will add support for amplitude control which will generate custom vibration effects. 

• Android 12 will allow nearby sharing of Wi-Fi passwords within devices with Android 12 only. With Android 12, Wi-Fi password sharing will be available with the Nearby Share feature.

• Google is also working on ‘Restricted Networking’ mode. When activated, it will provide access to the applications which have the network permission and rest will have no access to the internet.
