Railways Passengers Will Get Ready-To-Eat Food Like In Airlines; Haldiram, MTR Will Sell Food?
There could be a good possibility of ready-to-serve meals being provided to passengers in trains by IRCTC.
The Ministry of Railways is looking forward to proposing some plans to revamp the IRCTC’s revenue manifold, which may include introduction of fully cooked meals to Railways passengers.
IRCTC Joins Hands With Haldiram and More
IRCTC is mulling to step towards increasing its revenues. Under the new scheme, the tourism and catering wing of the Indian Railways, could provide its passengers with ready-to-serve meals, just like in airplanes.
To bolster its proposal/plan, IRCTC has joined hands with food brands like Haldiram, ITC, MTR, Wagh Bakri and other big names.
If this proposal is accepted and implemented under the upcoming Union Budget 2021-22, the passengers of Indian Railways could enjoy fully cooked meals served from these brands.
Sources reveal that Railway Minister Piyush Goyal is eagerly looking forward to implementing this scheme in Railways.
Notably, on implementation of this scheme, the responsibility of serving fully cooked meals to train passengers will be transferred from the pantry system in trains to IRCTC, thereby ceasing the pantry-cars.
