Ola Drivers Cheated Customers; Summoned By Police

Recently 3 Ola drivers have been arrested in Bengaluru for tricking the start-up and fleecing lakhs of rupees by using fake location app technology.

The drivers downloaded fake location app to trick the system that shows they drove customers in real using fake location app technology.

The Fake location app is available on the play store and this app helps them to create a fake phone location.

According to police, drivers were booking fake Ola cab by using Fake location app technology so that they can earn extra commission from the company.

After some time, Ola system managed to detect fake rides created by drivers, but it was too late as the drivers had already earned commission by using fake location app technology and they deleted all the details such as vehicle cards, rides details, sim cards, and registered cards.

Later they were trying to do the same procedure with the company by using new sim card and other details.

To mislead the Ola again, these fraud drivers bought about 500 mobile sim cards using fake names and they used to book cabs so that they can earn extra money without any investment in fuel.

Police seized a laptop, multiple mobile phone and sim cards, identity cards, rubber stamps, some stationery items, one swift car, a Toyota car, and others.

Surprisingly Ola did not file a complaint with the police and an Ola executive told, this is an old case and it is not clear as to how many lakhs of rupees Ola lost.

How Ola Drivers Are Cheating

  • They take longer routes instead of smaller ones so that fares will increase due to extra distance and extra time. This usually happens with the people who are new in the city so drivers cheat them easily.
  • Now Ola has introduced cancellation charges which are to be paid by the customer. These cancellation charges are forwarded to drivers directly. So Ola drivers accept your request, then try to ignore you for some time and wait for you to cancel the trip so they get cancellation charges.
  • They sometimes fool you if you aren’t paying attention. If you don’t take a look at the invoice on your phone or if someone else has booked a trip for you then they take extra money from you.

Beware and stay alert. In case you experience any such fraud activity, report to Ola immediately.
