Netflix Free Access For 48 Hours: When, How?

In a unique promotional program, Netflix is offering free access to their entire platform for 48 hours.

Called as “Streamfest”, this program will start on December 4th, and will end on December 6th. Hence, for a weekend, non-subscribers of Netflix in India will be able to access entire catalogue of the movies, programs for free.

Explaining the program, Netflix’s chief operating officer Greg Peters said, “An idea we are excited about — and we’ll see how it goes — [is] we think that giving everyone in a country access to Netflix free for a weekend could be a great way to expose a bunch of new people to the amazing new stories we have… [to] really create an event and hopefully get a bunch of those folks to sign up,”

The exact details on how non-subscribers can watch Netflix for free for 48 hours will be revealed later.

Why Netflix Is Doing This?

The The objective is to generate more interest among Indian users, and to drive up subscriptions.

Earlier this year, Netflix launched “Watch Netflix for Free” program, wherein non-subscribers were able to watch few selected programs and movies on Netflix for free.

Besides, in July, Netflix launched a unique program wherein users were able to watch Netflix for free for 83 years.

Interestingly, Netflix has ended the free 30-days free trial in India, and it seems this has impacted their bottomline.

For the Septemebr quarter, Netflix reported poor numbers in India and globally, as less new subscribers joined the platform.

It seems that the free 48-hour free program is a giant experiment to observe how free trials can push more new users to join in.

We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
