2.5 Cr Merchants Will Get PhonePe’s UPI Payment; 1000 New Jobs Will Be Created Across India

One of the leading platforms of online payment in India, PhonePe, has announced its plans of digitization for a whopping 25 million small merchants across the nation.

PhonePe’s Digitization Push: 25 Million Small Merchants, 5500 Talukas, 10000 New Jobs

PhonePe is planning to enable digitization for 25 million small merchants in the entire country (across 5500 talukas) to help them adopt a digital payment system for conducting transactions with vendors or customers. The company has confirmed that through this push for digitization, they will be creating 10000 new jobs as well.  

Vivek Lohcheb, Vice President – Offline Business Development, PhonePe said, “Kiranas and merchants across small villages and towns are striving to progress and prosper. We are really excited to partner with them in this journey and take digital payments to the last mile of India across every village and town.”

Digital modes of payment have been promoted by the PM of India, Narendra Modi ever since he announced the demonetization of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes. UPI mode of payment has been estimated to overtake Visa and Mastercard by the next 1000 days. 

PhonePe is one of the leading platforms for digital payment with as much as 230 million registered users. 

PhonePe To Offer A Personalized Page, Access To PhonePe for Business App

All the 25 million merchants, including Kirana store owners, will be given access to the PhonePe for Business app.

As per reports, PhonePe will be offering its partners a personalized store page on the PhonePe app. The products that they sell, the timings of the store, offers and deals for the customers and delivery options, and other such factors will be enlisted on this page. 

The listings will also enable users of PhonePe to find such stores near their location along with the option of getting in touch with the stores through a voice call or the built-in chat functionality. 

PhonePe app users will also be able to place their orders from this store page through the app and pay the store owner digitally.
