New JioFiber Plans Not Truly Unlimited: What’s The Catch?
As any other telecom broadband service in the country as Airtel XStream or TataSky Broadband, the new JioFiber plans also have a bandwidth limit. The JioFiber new plans start at Rs 399 a month at 30Mbps download / upload speeds. While the company says the new Jio broadband plans are unlimited in nature, apparently they are not.

If we actually go by the phrase ‘unlimited broadband plans’, they are actually not truly unlimited. If you go to the terms and conditions page, the first point clarifies that the data limit usage on new JioFiber plans are capped at 3,300GB a month. Also unused data won’t be rolled over to the next month.
On the brighter side, still that’s a lot of data to be consumed. You get 100GB a day on an average to be used, and that’s more than enough for a standard household even if used to stream different OTT services on TV apart from using data for mobile, laptop and other connected services.
New JioFiber Plans Don’t Include GST, Extra Charges Applicable
The new JioFiber plans don’t include the GST levied on broadband services. The new JioFiber tariffs mentioned are exclusive of Goods and Service Tax (GST). So additional GST has to be paid on the base price. The one month service denotes 30 days of service.
The newly introduced JioFiber plans include: 30Mbps Rs 399 JioFiber plan, 100Mbps Rs 699 JioFiber plan, 150Mbps Rs 999 JioFiber plan and finally the 300Mbps Rs 1499 JioFiber plan.
All the latest JioFiber plans are exclusive of GST. 18 percent GST will be charged on the base price of the JioFiber plans. For example, the base 100Mbps JioFiber plan priced at Rs 699 will finally be billed Rs 826 (approximately) a month including 18 percent GST.
JioFiber Free OTT Benefits: What Do You Actually Get?
Apart from offering free unlimited voice calling on the new Jio broadband plans, the higher-priced JioFiber plans: Rs 999 150Mbps plan and Rs 1499 300Mbps plan come with free OTT benefits. Both the 999 and 1499 JioFiber plans will bundle up the free OTT benefits worth Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500 respectively.
JioFiber is offering free 12 OTT platforms with the new broadband plans which include Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5, SonyLIV, SunNXT, Hoichoi among others.
Free JioFiber For 30 Days: Return Without Pay If Not Happy
JioFiber is also offering No Condition 30-day Free Trial of the JioFiber broadband service for new customers. Reliance Jio has mentioned on it’s MyJio app and website that the 30 day trial service comes with no questions asked clause, if you don’t like it, you can directly cancel your new JioFiber connection without any pay.
New JioFiber subscribers activating the JioFiber service from September 1 can avail the 30-day free trial option.
The 30-day free trial also includes the option to avail a 4K set-top box with access to the top 10 paid OTT apps at no extra costs.
There are two options. The first option is to pay a refundable amount of Rs 1500 without the 4K set-top box or access to OTT platforms. The other option is to pay a refundable amount of Rs 2,500 and avail access to OTT platforms with the 4K set-top box.
Existing JioFiber users can automatically upgrade to the latest plans according to their needs. New JioFiber consumers who subscribed to the Jio broadband service between August 15 and August 31 will receive the 30-day free trial benefit in the form of a voucher in their MyJio app.

The Rs 999 JioFiber Gold plan priced at Rs 999 comes with unlimited internet with download and upload speeds at up to 150Mbps. The 999 JioFiber plan provides unlimited voice calling and access to 11 OTT apps for free including Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar and more streaming services worth Rs 1000.
300Mbps Rs 1,499 JioFiber Plan: JioFiber 1499 Diamond Plan
Coming to the last new Jio plan, the Rs 1,499 JioFiber Diamond plan costs Rs 1,499. The 1499 JioFiber plan ships with unlimited internet as all plans with download and upload speeds at higher 300 Mbps. It includes the free OTT benefits as the former plan.
With unlimited voice calling, 1499 JioFiber plan also offers a free subscription to 12 OTT apps free of extra cost worth Rs 1,500.
