Microsoft Wants To Buy TikTok’s Global Operations; Will TikTok Relaunch In India If This Happens?

Some interesting developments are taking place, related to TikTok’s global operations, including India where it’s banned.

As per FT, Microsoft is aiming to acquire TikTok’s global operations, and that includes India as well.

If this happens, will TikTok relaunch in India?

We try to find out the truth!

Microsoft Wants To Buy TikTok’s Global Operations

As per a report by FT, negotiations are on between Microsoft and ByteDance, which are TikTok’s owners to a possible acquisition.

US Govt is all set to ban TikTok by September 15th, and if the negotiations fail, then TikTok will be banned there as well.

However, initially, there was report that Microsoft is only looking to buy TikTok’s US operations, and let it survive there.

But now, it seems that Microsoft has a bigger ambition: They want to acquire not only TikTok’s US operations, but also Europe, India and entire world.

One part of the report states that the deal can be pegged at $50 billion for entire global operations of TikTok, while another part of the report states that Microsoft hasn’t yet brought this issue up.

But, what about India?

Will TikTok Relaunch In India If Microsoft Acquires It?

On a broader level, it seems possible.

TikTok has been banned in India due to its links with Chinese Govt, and due to privacy issues.

However, once Microsoft acquires TikTok, it will become a US company, and then there will be no trouble.

However, as per the reports, the talk of acquiring Indian operations has ‘fell through’ in the initial phase.

Reuters said, “There was a “deal in the works” with Microsoft for TikTok India but it fell through, the FT reported, citing one person close to ByteDance in India.”

This is a developing story, and there will be a lot of new developments.

We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
