IIT Madras Launches Online Degree and BSc Programme In Data Science And Programming

We all know that the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is one of the best Indian institutes in India and it has launched an online diploma and BSc program in data science and programming. 

As per reports, the actual course will be conducted online, whereas, the exams will be held in a non-offline mode. Additionally, this course will have no age limit and any student who has passed class 12 standard exams can take the course. 

The director of IIT Madras Bhaskar Ramamurthy has revealed that the institute wants to reach a bigger number of students. 

Details Of IIT Madras’ Online Diploma And Degree Programme 

The course also consists of multiple entries and exit points. The students will be given a certificate, a diploma, or a degree based on where they exit the course. Once the student finishes class 12 exams, students will we needed to first complete a foundation course.  If the student who wants to get admitted has a college-level degree, they can directly get admitted at the diploma level. 

The program will consist of videos from the faculty weekly assignments and exams that will be invigilated in person. Based on their eligibility, all the interested candidates will have to submit a form and pay a fee of Rs. 3000 for the qualifier exam. 

The students will be granted access to 4 weeks of the course content which includes 4 subjects such as mathematics, English, statistics, and computational thinking. 

The curriculum of the course has been designed with help from the industry as revealed by IIT Madras. Apparently the first-year students will be taught the basics of programming and data science. The diploma year students will be taught skill courses and the application of the same. In the final stage students will be taught about specialisations and at the end of the three years students will be offered a BSc degree.
