Display & Design

The Huawei Watch GT 2e carries on the smartphone giant’s legacy and integrates an unmatched form factor in terms of built quality and design. With a very elite looking design, the watch is comes with an exciting looking perforated strap increasing breathability.

In comparison with its predecessor the new offering is a lot sportier while retaining its business-like premium appeal. Packed with a fantastic 1.39-inch, 454 x 454 AMOLED colourful display with a Retina-grade resolution, the Huawei Watch GT 2e features a striking numbered bezel – a feature that stands out prominently, vis-à-vis its counterparts – the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 which has a 1.35-inch Super AMOLED display, the LTPO OLED capacitive touchscreen Apple Watch Series 5, and the 1.3-inch AMOLED display Fossil Gen 5 Smartwatch.

The watch comes in just one size (46mm), and is larger than the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 and Apple Watch Series 5, which is 40mm and 44mm in size. The Fossil Gen 5 comes in the 40mm size bracket.

Both Huawei’s and Samsung’s watches differentiate in terms of design as compared to Apple and Fossil, but the AMOLED display on Huawei GT 2e adds character.

Features and Performance

The Huawei Watch GT 2e hosts two physical button, with one acting as a home button giving access to app list while the other provides customisation option.  The Huawei GT 2e is packed with all standard sensors for a fitness tracker, including optical heart rate sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope and even the SpO2 feature which help users monitor oxygen levels in the blood easily. Based on a high-performance heart rate sensor, Huawei’s self-developed Truseenâ„¢ 3.5 heart rate monitoring technology, TruRelexâ„¢ stress management technology, and Trusleepâ„¢ 2.0 technology, allows users to monitor heart rate, stress level and sleep quality in real time. Equipped with Kirin A1 chipset, the watch comes with 85 workout modes including dedicated 15 professional workout modes which includes 8 outdoor activities and 7 indoor activities, which is a class apart offering in terms to competition.

Supported by Exynos 9110 dual-core processor, Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 can automatically track seven popular activities and up to 39 distinct activities with an advanced sensor. It has a heart rate monitor that can measure heart rate and stress levels, and also hydration, caffeine, weight and sleep monitoring capabilities as add ons.

The Apple Watch Series 5 can also track and record day-to-day health status but what it lacks is a sleep monitoring feature. Powered by Apple S5 chipset, the watch not just tracks high-intensity interval training and running, but can log many types of unusual workouts such as Fitness Gaming, Rolling, Play, and Mind and Body. Its heart rate sensor is very accurate, and it can also take ECG readings.

The Fossil Gen 5, on the other hand, is a basic smartwatch compared to the other two, which does not have any comprehensive or advanced health monitoring or tracking abilities. It has a Snapdragon 3100 chipset and supports usual fitness tracking and heart rate monitoring.

In terms of health and fitness, Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is the closest choice to Huawei GT2e, but the former’s SpO2 feature, 85 workout modes, and the capability to track exercises like skateboarding to surfing is a total win-win.

Power

The Huawei Watch GT 2e is powered by a long-lasting battery, warranting a running life of two weeks on a single charge. With the screen on all the time, Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 can last no longer than two days at a stretch, without charging and the Apple Watch Series 5 and Fossil Gen 5 has a battery life of a day.

If battery is what you swear by, Huawei Watch GT 2e is a clear winner.

Availability and price

The Huawei Watch GT 2e is available online on Amazon and Filpkart and is priced attractively at Rs. 11,990 only.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is available for Rs. 25,990 and the Fossil Gen 5 is priced at Rs. 22,995, which is quite close to that of Samsung watch’s price.

The Apple Watch Series 5 falls under the premium segment, and is priced at a whopping Rs. 52,900. These devices are also available on both Amazon and Flipkart.

Verdict

The Huawei Watch GT 2e stands out in the wearable watch category, whether its quality display, packed health and fitness features  such as the SpO2 measuring sensor, strong battery life and so on.

In fact it beats all other competitive brands hands down with an excellent battery life. Available at an unmatched price point to buyers, the Huawei Watch GT 2e becomes a must-have for the world.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 may seem like a great deal in terms of a smartwatch with rich features but in terms of fitness and health tracking abilities the Huawei Watch GT 2e is a clear winner. The Apple Watch Series 5 and Fossil Gen 5 lacks the capabilities of Huawei Watch GT 2e and Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2.
