Yesterday, India lost Irrfan Khan, the legendary actor and Bollywood star who had become a face of Indian cinema in Hollywood.

He was battling with cancer since last two years.

As a tribute for Irrfan Khan, Doordarshan has decided to re-telecast his iconic, and critically acclaimed TV serial Shrikant.

Doordarshan: We Will Re-Run Shrikant As A Tribute To Irrfan Khan

As per Doordarshan’s tweet, Shrikant will run every day at 3.30PM on Doordarshan.

Doordarshan said, “Watch your favourite #IrrfanKhan in Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s #Shrikant, this afternoon at 3:30 pm on @DDNational.”

We are assuming that Shrikant will also run on DD Retro, a new channel from Doordarshan which will be telecast old, classic shows from Doordarshan’s archives. 

Every DTH and Cable operator will add DD Retro in their bouquet of channels.

It’s not clear if Shrikant will be telecasted on Doordarshan or not.

Shrikant: Some Interesting Facts

Shrikant was Inrrfan Khan’s firstever TV serial, where he acted as one of the lead roles.

Based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyaya’s novel Srikanta, Shrikant was directed by Pravin Nischol, and also starrted some iconic actors like  Farooq Sheikh, Sujata Mehta, Irrfan Khan,[1] Mrinal Kulkarni, Sukanya Kulkarni, Tiku Talsania, Asha Sharma with others.

Irrfan Khan: An Impeccable Actor, And Human Being

Irrfan Khan started his journey as an actor with Doordarshan, and Shrikant was his first ever TV serial.

After that, Irrfan also acted in some classic serials including Bharat Ek Khoj, Kahkashan, Chanakya (which is also being re-telecasted on Doordarshan and DD Retro),  Shesh Prashn, Kirdaar, Chandrakanta, Shesh Prashn, The Great Maratha, Banegi Apni Baat, Darr, Just Mohabbat, Jai Hanuman, Bombay Blue, Satya, Geeta Rashasya, Sparsh, Ssshhhh…Koi Hai and more.

Born in a Tonk, Rajasthan, Irrfan Khan was selected to play in CK Nayadu Tournament, when he was 23. But due to lack of funds, he couldnt visit Ajmer.

He passed out from National School of Drama, and has received Padma Shri Award, which is India’s the highest Civilian Award.

He will be always remembered as a legendary actor, who enticed us with his magic of acting and performance.
