Reliance eCommerce: JioMart Will Sell Mobiles, Gadgets From January 26th; Should Amazon, Flipkart Worry?
Reliance has recently launched its retail vertical – an online grocery platform, My Jio Mart. While the initial plans suggested that the platform would only be for online grocery shopping, but now there is news that electronics and mobile phones will also be available on this portal for customers.

RIL Launched My Jio Mart To Extend Beyond Grocery To Smartphones and Electronics
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has launched its most ambitious, hyperlocal Kirana-led retail project, My Jio Mart, quite recently. It has been launched in Kalyan, Navi Mumbai, and Thane, in Maharashtra, with a vision to empower 30 million small traders and merchants.
However, this platform will no longer be limited to grocery, but will also expand to cover smartphones and electronics under its umbrella.
Sources have revealed, “Going ahead with the store-driven e-commerce model, JioMart will soon launch a lakh odd stores on its platform, where even if a product is not available on the platform it will tell you where the nearest availability is, all of it is currently under pilot phase.”
This pilot phase of Reliance’s My Jio Mart will be set up in Navi Mumbai, and the news is that the platform will also include products and commodities of other verticals, including those of pharmacy, sometime in the near future.
The My Jio Mart has been silently launched with a tagline, ‘Desh ki nayi dukaan’, and the expansion to smartphones and electronic gadgets will begin on January 26, 2020.

From much before its launch, My Jio Mart has already been pitted against some big players that have established themselves in the market, such as Bigbasket, Grofers, and even some huge players such as Amazon and Flipkart.
Reliance has been tapping into a lot of verticals apart from the telecom industry, such as smartphones, Jio Fiber’s wifi, and even online streaming services.
And now, the Ambani led behemoth has ventured into online e-commerce, and is sure to make its counterparts, BigBasket, Grofers, Swiggy, Dunzo break into a sweat!
