OnePlus 7T Pro Design: Any Upgrade?
Technically speaking, no. While the latest OnePlus 7T saw an upgrade in terms of design technology, the new OnePlus 7T Pro still packs in a triple-camera system stacked vertically packed in a frosted matte finish layer. It’s a mix of glass and feels metallic on the out. OnePlus 7T Pro features the same 90Hz Fluid AMOLED screen as OnePlus 7 Pro.
OnePlus 7T came with an upgraded triple-camera set-up, but OnePlus 7T Pro again has the same design language to offer.
The device opted for a premium matte-frosted glass back this time, again same as OnePlus 7 Pro. It feels very good to be held, and the gradient colours are clean and smooth. The company packs in a good TPU case in the box, but you don’t have to worry about the smudges. The the glass sandwich design is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
OnePlus 7T Pro Display: The Same Curved Seamless Experience
Again OnePlus 7T Pro comes with the same 90Hz Fluid AMOLED screen as OnePlus 7 Pro, the feature everybody liked irrespective of critics and masses. The company claimed that the display will come with 40ms touch response and new animation optimisations under the latest OxygenOS, specifically optimised for new gestures on a 90Hz refresh rates screen.
It’s a 6.67-ich 90Hz HDR+ Fluid AMOLED 2K notchless edge to edge display with a screen resolution of 3120 x 1440 with a pop-up sensor on top.
The display bezels on OnePlus 7T Pro are extremely thin with a slight chin. OnePlus 7T Pro will offer top-class brightness and HDR with HDR10+ support. The same is also supported for content via Amazon Prime, Netflix and YouTube.
OnePlus 7T Pro can have a peak brightness of over 1000 nits. The new Chromatic reading mode unveiled with OnePlus 7T will also be available with 7T Pro. The feature is an upgraded Reading Mode from 2017 with low saturated colours to offer a strain-free viewing experience.
OnePlus 7T Pro Hardware: Snapdragon 855 Plus
OnePlus 7T Pro runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chip. It has new Kryo cores clocked up to 2.96 GHz with improved GPU performance upto 15 percent. OnePlus 7T Pro comes with the same UFS 3.1 storage as predecessor with 8GB of RAM and upto 256GB of internal storage.
OnePlus becomes one of the first in the country to ship the latest Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 Plus processor.
It’s 15 percent faster than the standard Snapdragon 855 on the predecessor. This won’t be a huge upgrade, but you will find some subtle differences between the successor and OnePlus 7 Pro. It can manage everything you throw at it, be it top-end games at higher screen resolution, extensive multitasking or both.
OnePlus 7T Pro will use the AI on the new SD 855 Plus chip to offer some added features as Smart Boost, Zen Mode and more. Smart Boost learns your smartphone habits over time and helps apps to load faster background. OnePlus has added multiple optimisations under the latest OxygenOS utilising the 855+.
OnePlus 7T Pro Camera: Triple Camera, Super Stable, Macro Photography
OnePlus 7T Pro features a triple-camera system in a circular unit comprising of a 48MP main sensor, 16MP ultra-wide sensor with a 117-degree field of view and a third 2X 8MP telephoto camera with OIS. OnePlus 7T Pro also supports macro shots from as close as 2.5cm.
There’s a new Nightscape and Portrait, also supported by the ultra-wide lens.
OnePlus 7T Pro imaging software has been specifically designed to support Super Stable. It uses the gyroscope and EIS to give the user super steady videos without any shakes.
The OnePlus 7T Pro rear camera can shoot 4K video up to 60fps and super slow motion up to 960fps.
Upfront, the new OnePlus device comes with the same 16MP Sony IMX471 selfie camera as OnePlus 7.
OnePlus has significantly improved the camera’s software.
The camera performance was pretty good given daylight and artificial lighting. There’s an ultra shot engine for wide shots a new Macro shooting mode for close-up shots upto 2.5cm in full quality. The wide-angle camera and telephoto zoom lens both can be used for portrait shots.
OnePlus 7T Pro Software: To Run Android 10 Out Of The Box
OnePlus 7T Pro is the second smartphone in the world to come with Android 10 out of the box after OnePlus 7T. OnePlus also recently announced OnePlus Pay and OnePlus Cloud Storage for OnePlus users. It offers free additional 50 GB of storage for the first year.
The latest OxygenOS has been upgraded with as many as 370 optimisations.
OnePlus 7T Pro users can enjoy the newly improved animations, visuals, unlocking speeds, app switches, control in landscape mode and more. The device gets access to the first-ever Android 10 features as dark mode, revamped security permissions, new gestures, animations and more.
OnePlus 7T Pro Battery: New Warp 30T Fast Charging Technology
The company unveiled a new fast charging technology at the OnePlus 7T launch event. OnePlus 7T Pro will support the new Warp Charge 30T technology, which is 23 percent faster than the previous OnePlus 7 Pro’s Warp 30 charging technology.
OnePlus 7T Pro packs in marginally larger 4,085mAh battery compared to the predecessor.
The new Warp 30T charger can juice up the phone enough in 20 minutes for you to run through the day.
On full charge, OnePlus 7T Pro can easily run for a whole day on heavy usage, and even more if used moderately. OnePlus 7T Pro can be charged from 5% to 100% in one hour and 25 minutes using the all new Warp 30T charger.
OnePlus 7T Pro Verdict: Should You Upgrade?
If you are using a OnePlus 7 Pro already, then it’s completely unnecessary. The new OnePlus 7T Pro doesn’t come with any big upgrade. The new OnePlus 7T Pro launched in just less than four months. In case you are upgrading from OnePlus 6T or any other Android / Apple flagship, this device does pack in some killer things.
OnePlus 7T Pro has the autofocus sensor outside of the camera module, and a new colour option called Haze Blue, slightly lighter than Nebula Blue.
It has the marginally upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC, same Adreno 640 GPU, slightly bigger 4,085mAh battery and new Warp 30T charging technology. This doesn’t make any big of a difference, while the performance might bump a little.

It is still costly given the other options in the range, but it’s probably the experience you are paying for.
There are only a handful of differences between 7T Pro and 7 Pro. The new OnePlus 7T Pro has almost everything as OnePlus 7 Pro. With OnePlus again back with a new Pro smartphone at a higher price, they seem to be attempting to be the next Apple in the premium segment.
