Xiaomi has unveiled the much-awaited Redmi K20 series in China, and we can’t keep calm. The all new Redmi flagships come with a ton of top-end features including the best of hardware and cameras, all at a very affordable price.

Known for its affordability, the new Redmi series will again hit the market hard.

Redmi K20 seems like a perfect upper midrange flagship, while the K20 Pro stands out to be a winner in the entry-premium space.

There’s nothing new, or anything which you haven’t seen on a smartphone. But, Xiaomi plans to kill the competition with its aggressive prices. The Redmi K20 will be strategically placed against Realme X, while the K20 Pro will take on flagships from OnePlus, Samsung and Vivo.

Design & Display

The Redmi K20 smartphones come with a mix of glass and metal. With a 3D gradient at the back, the smartphones feature a compact design with curved sides at back. It will help in firm gripping.

The Redmi K20 series will have the new 3D finish glass body featuring a gradient finish on the out barring the special Carbon fiber variant. The smartphone weighs 191 grams.

Redmi K20 Pro features a 6.39-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display without any notch in an 19.5:9 aspect ratio with 600 nits of maximum brightness with support for HDR content.

The smartphone comes with the seventh generation in-display optical fingerprint scanner.

The company has used a pop-up camera to make space for a full-screen display protected by sapphire. The pop-up front sensor is wear-resistant and scratch-resistant.

Hardware & Gaming Features

As expected, the Redmi K20 Pro will run on the Qualcomm flagship octa-core processor, Snapdragon 855. It’s a 7nm chip coupled with Adreno 640 GPU. The smartphone achieved more than 380,000 on AnTuTu.

In comparison, the regular Redmi K20 will run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor.

It’s not a gaming device, but Redmi K20 Pro can be doubled as a gaming smartphone. It comes with 8 layer liquid cooling to keep the phone cool during extended gaming sessions coupled with a three dimension double-sided cooling structure with a top level graphite architecture.

Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi K20 comes with a special Game Turbo 2.0 feature to optimize the smartphone for gaming, headphone/sound quality while gaming, optimization for WiFi/ mobile network while gaming and special improvements to touch mode while gaming.

The smartphones will also optimize the dark areas of the screen while gaming to offer a better viewing experience during gameplay.

Cameras

Coming to optics, Redmi K20 Pro will feature with a three camera setup at the back.

The rear triple camera setup on K20 Pro features the 48MP Sony IMX586 camera as primary lens with an f/1.75 aperture coupled with a 8MP telephoto secondary sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and a tertiary 13MP wide-angle sensor with an f/2.5 aperture and a 124.8 degree field of view.

Redmi K20 also features a similar triple camera setup at the back, expect for the 48MP IMX 586 sensor. Xiaomi has used Sony IMX 582 48MP sensor for the regular Redmi K20.

Upfront, Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi K20 comes with a 20MP sensor supporting wide-angle shots. Both the Redmi K20 series smartphones will have the same pop-up sensor rising smoothly at under 0.8 seconds.

Connectivity & Battery

In term of connectivity, it has all the requisite sensors supporting two SIMs with dual 4G VoLTE support. Thankfully, both Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi K20 comes with a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack supporting Hi-Fi audio.

Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi supports NFC and finally houses a huge 4,000 mAh battery supporting AI smart optimization to extend the phone’s battery to last longer.

Redmi K20 Pro comes with 27W wired fast charging capabilities, whereas Redmi K20 supports 18W fast charging technology.

Redmi K20 & Redmi K20 Pro: Pricing & Availability

Redmi K20 Pro starts at Yuan 2499 (INR 25,200) going up to Yuan 2999 (Rs 30,250), while the regular Redmi K20 starts at Yuan 1999 (INR 20,150). Redmi K20 Pro will also be available in the previously teased Avengers Special edition with the Avengers 4 metal theme card and a limited mobile phone case.

In India, Redmi K20 will take on the upcoming Realme X featuring a similar pop-up front sensor and notch-less display.

The Redmi K20 India price should start somewhere below Rs 20,000.

The Redmi K20 Pro, on the other hand, will target the entry-premium space. Redmi K20 Pro India price is expected to start at around 25,000 rupees or even below, depending upon how Xiaomi plans to place the smartphone in the market.

Xiaomi India has already confirmed the launch of the Redmi K20 smartphones in India. While the official date has not been announced yet, the India launch should happen sometime in June.
