Two Redmi Smartphones With Snapdragon 855 & Pop Up Selfie Camera Coming To India
After the alleged Redmi Pro 2 leak, another Redmi smartphone is out speculated to be running on Snapdragon 855. Xiaomi recently separated Redmi from its hat as an independent brand.
And now, two Redmi smartphones are rumoured to be coming to India with pop-up selfie cameras and SD 855.
Previously the company has experimented with a slider camera on Mi MIX 3, and this is going to be it’s first pop-up camera smartphones.
Xiaomi has already confirmed that the company is working on a Redmi smartphone running on Snapdragon 855. But the latest leak suggests that two smartphones from Redmi are in its early-manufacturing phase.
According to a new report by XDA Developers, Xiaomi is said to be working on two Redmi Snapdragon 855 smartphones with pop-up selfie cameras code-named “davinci” and “raphael”.

The pop-up camera Redmi smartphones are said to have received the hardware support already. The development phase is expected to be over and they are being rumoured to be already into the designing phase.
The latest addition of another smartphone was confirmed in the pop-up camera testing, code-named “raphael.”
Both the Redmi Snapdragon 855 smartphones: “raphael” and “davinci” are tested with the upcoming pop-up camera hardware. The pop-up camera technology is going to very similar to what Oppo and Vivo uses in its smartphones like Oppo F11 Pro, Vivo V15 Pro or Vivo NEX.
The same pop-up camera technology will soon be debuting with OnePlus 7 smartphones as well.
The Redmi pop-up camera testing includes a front camera test automatically appearing and retracting. This confirms the use of th same technology as the Vivo or Oppo smartphones, but not the slider mechanism Xiaomi used it in Mi MIX 3.
The details of the camera sensors are not out yet, be it the front or the rear camera.
Both “raphael” and “davinci” Redmi flagships will be powered by the current best Qualcomm top-end processor, Snapdragon 855 mobile platform. These smartphones will come with the best of features available in the market like under-display fingerprint scanners, current generation MIUI software and fast charging capabilities.
Snapdragon 855 Redmi Flagships Will Launch In India: Poco F2?
Xiaomi doesn’t focus primarily in the flagship market in India, but this may change with the upcoming Redmi Snapdragon 855 smartphones.
The specifications are not out yet, nor any details can be confirmed.
The flagships also have separate code-names for the Indian market, “raphaelin” and “davinciin”. The in suffix at the end of the two code-names of the Redmi Snapdragon 855 smartphones hint at a possible launch in the Indian market as well.
Being flagships, both the Redmi Snapdragon 855 devices will have a top-end hardware, much similar to the company’s current flagship, Xiaomi Mi 9.
The company has sidelined Redmi to let it focus on budget smartphones.
So, coming to the pricing, the smartphones are going to be very competitive in terms of price. Even if the company doesn’t bring in the smartphones to India, the upcoming Redmi flagships will inspire the next Poco smartphone heavily: POCO F2.
