What’s In The Box?

The  Huawei P30 Pro comes in a box which has a sim card tool, a clear case, USB Type C headphones, and a charger.

Look and Feel

The first thing that pulls you to the phone is the appearance. The Huawei P30 Pro we unboxed is of the Breathing Crystal color, which is bright and attractive, and definitely unique. The back panel, made of 9 layers of glass, is reflective and shows off different colors on holding in the light.

The phone weighs 192 grams, which is quite alright for a phone this size. Even if you have a small hand, this phone is easier to hold and operate, the thickness being only 8.3 mm. However, the phone is a bit slippery, hence, using the case is necessary.

Build

On the back panel, there are is the ingenious quad camera set on the top left corner along with the depth of field camera and flash. The name of the brand is inscribed at the bottom of the back panel.

On the bottom of the panel, there is the speaker grill, microphone, USB Type C charging port with a dual nano sim card slot, which requires the proprietary 1 NM card or else a single sim card. On the left side of tha phone, there are volume toggle keys and the power key too. On the top, there is an IR blaster and a noise-canceling microphone.

Display

The phone has a 16.4 cm (6.47)” OLED screen, with 2340×1080 FHD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

The phone has very thin bezels and a narrow chin, along with one of the smallest notches ever seen, thus giving a wide display. The glass on both sides is curved and the phone has a great screen to body ratio.

However, it is quite unclear if the phone employs Gorilla Glass in the front or in the back.

Another unique feature of this phone is sound on display, which means when you are on a call, the display emits sounds and vibrations. Also, this phone doesn’t come with an earpiece.

Speed and specifications

Huawei P30 Pro comes with the Android 9.0 Pie update and EMUI 9.1 software. Huawei has worked on improving the phone’s icons and they are definitely better. The smartphone giant has assured that the phone will soon have one update with two new very interesting feature. one of this feature will enable you to unlock your car from your phone, as Huawei has partnered up with many car manufacturers like BMW.

The other feature that is anticipated is the dual-view video – wherein the user will be able to employ any two cameras from the quad rear camera setup to work simultaneously.

P30 Pro supports dual 4G VOLTE at the same time and is equipped with Bluetooth 5.0. While the company assures that the wifi is the fastest to date, but wifi 6 is absent. The phone can download at a speed of 1.7 Gbps, which is good.

The phone we unboxed is the 8 GB RAM and 256 GB ROM variant, and the speed of operation is very fast, which is definitely an added advantage.

Camera

The camera is easily the finest feature of the phone, with an excellent zooming feature. With AI mode enabled, the camera can automatically optimize macro shots, recognize scenes and do lots more.

The resolution of the camera is 40 MP+ 20 MP+8 MP+ TOF camera. The 40 MP sensor has an F/1.6 Aperture, With OIS and can click pictures in a low light setting with amazing finesse.

The second camera is an ultra wide 20 MP camera with F/2.2, and the telephoto/telescope/periscope lens is F/3.4 making it the most powerful lens of all.

The rear camera is AIS and dual OIS, which can zoom up to 50 times and makes P30’s camera one of the best out there.

Battery and Processor

Huawei P30 Pro functions on Kirin 980 Octa Core processor, which is a good and capable processor. The processor along with GPU Turbo 3.0 enhances the gaming performance overall.

There are two modes to this phone, and the Antutu scores differ for each one. The Antutu score for the normal mode is around 2 lakh, whereas, for the performance mode the score is higher but might drain the battery quicker.

The battery of the Huawei P30 Pro is 4200 mAh but does not make the phone heavy at all. There is a 40-watt supercharger in the box, which impressively, charges the phone up to 70% in just 30 minutes.

A bonus point is that the phone supports a 15-watt wireless charging facility with reverse wireless charging too.

Sensors

The phone is a flagship level phone and has all the sensors, including fingerprint and face unlock. However, there is one downside to the inbuilt fingerprint sensor, that is the sensor is located a bit below comfort level and accessing the sensor can be tedious.

The phone has a face unlock sensor too, which is not a safety feature but functions at a swift rate. However, the phone unlocks with an artificial face mask too, which is a downside to this phone.

Audio & Visuals

Regarding the video and display of colors, the phone is quite satisfactory and has a bright and vibrant color display, giving it a saturated look.

The quality of the audio is quite satisfactory, but even at maximum volume, the phone’s audio is considerably low. The volume during a voice call is also low.

The phone’s most special feature is the phone’s IP68 certification, which makes it splashproof and resistant to water, or rains. We tested this particular property and the claim is authentic. Plan your next trip to the beach without the fear of getting your phones soaked!
