Infosys, Wipro Offering Rs 8 Lakh To Freshers; Rs 3.6 Lakh Becomes Average Freshers’ Salary
This year, freshers' salary will be 6-15% more, and this is first such massive hike in last 5 years.
And, it is now confirmed – #Achedin for freshers have started in India.
India’s top IT firms have now increased the salary of freshers to Rs 3.5-Rs.3.6 lakh per annum, and this means that from now, freshers will get a minimum of this salary.
At the same time, Infosys, and Wipro have claimed that they are offering as much as Rs 8 lakh per annum salary to freshers, who have some specific ‘digital skills’.

Infosys, Wipro Offering Upto Rs 8 Lakh/Yr To Freshers
Changing landscape of the IT industry, and intense competition from Western countries have now forced India’s IT firms to alter their packages for freshers.
As per fresh reports coming in, IT biggies such as Infosys, Wipro are now offering upto Rs 8 lakh per year salary for freshers. This is the single biggest jump in freshers’ salary, in decades.
But such packages are not for everyone – Freshers who possess the new-age digital skills such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Machine Learning, Robotics, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing etc are offered such as high salaries from the IT companies.
An Infosys spokesperson has said, “In addition, we are also making offers at Rs 5 lakh and Rs 8 lakh for candidates with differentiated skill sets and performance assessments,”
As per a report by GadgetsNow: “Wipro is offering nearly Rs 7 lakh annually to freshers with digital skills. Others are also paying Rs 5-8 lakh for candidates with skills in new-age technologies such as data analytics, machine learning, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence.”
TCS has already announced doubling of freshers’ salary to Rs 6.5 lakh year.
Average Freshers’ Salary Increase After 5 Years
Meanwhile the average salary of freshers, who don’t have any special digital skills has also increased this fiscal year.
Atleast 6-15% hike in freshers’ salary has been reported, by every major IT firm in India (top 5).
While earlier, Rs 3-3.1 lakh was the normal salary for fresher, now, it has been increased to Rs 3.5-Rs 3.6 lakh per annum.
A senior recruitment officer from a top-tier IT firm said that now, companies “are becoming flexible to pay higher salaries for the right set of skills”.
Besides, campus placement has also witnessed a surge this year, compared to the last few years. TCS has already declared that they will hire 28,000 freshers this year, meanwhile, HCL will hire 35,000 freshers from campuses this year.
As per recruitment experts, top 5 IT firms in India: TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL and Cognizant have decided to ramp up freshers’ salary because right now, they are in need of fresh minds, and ideas. And with demand for new age technologies at an all-time high, these companies want to train them young and retain them for big-ticket projects in the future.
And, as the big companies are increasing the salaries, smaller, mid-level companies too will have to match the offer.
