OnePlus 6T is all set the break the benchmarks of Indian smartphone market.
With just a few months away from the OnePlus 6T launch, the company has confirmed a huge upgrade for its upcoming flagship which even the 2018 iPhones won’t have.
Both OnePlus 6T and 2018 iPhones are official now, and the new iPhones are launching tomorrow i.e September 12.
On the other hand, OnePlus has already confirmed that it will launch its T model: OnePlus 6T this year on October 17. Already the concept design is out and OnePlus 6T will come with an Oppo R17 body and the same hardware inside.
Which OnePlus 6T Feature 2018 iPhones Misses Out On?
OnePlus 6T will have a design very similar to the new Oppo and Vivo smartphones like Oppo R17, Oppo F9 Pro and Vivo V11 Pro. The distinctive feature among these smartphones is the water-drop notch. OnePlus 6T will come with a small circular water-drop notch offering a full screen no-bezel experience.
This is the first feature that the upcoming 2018 iPhones won’t have.
Now when the Chinese company was confirming the date of launch, during the announcement, OnePlus hinted at a major key feature on its upcoming OnePlus 6T: in-display fingerprint sensor.
OnePlus 6T is going to be the first smartphone from the company to come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Again, none of the 2018 iPhones will have this feature.
So, these are the two main OnePlus 6T features that upcoming 2018 iPhones: iPhone XS, iPhone XS Plus and iPhone XC (also iPhone XR) won’t have.
Face Unlock vs In-Display Fingerprint Sensor
The Face Unlock feature works fine with all the flagship phones, but still many opt to have a fingerprint sensor. A fingerprint sensing security feature adds to the handling functionality, as when you are driving or in the middle of something, the face unlock feature doesn’t come handy.
According to OnePlus, we unlock our phones multiple times a day, and the new in-display screen unlock feature, it will help to reduce the number of steps to complete the action of unlocking the device.
The in-display fingerprint scanner will come as an additional feature on the OnePlus 6T. The Face Unlocking display option will still be there, and users can choose from what are are convenient with. OnePlus 6T users willwill the options to choose which way they want to unlock their phone in a way which is most efficient for them, or use both.
How Fast Is OnePlus 6T’s In-Display Fingerprint Scanner?
The sister company of OnePlus, Vivo was the first smartphone brand to launch a commercially viable in-display fingerprint sensor in a smartphone. In India, three Vivo phones are the only phones to come with display fingerprint sensing technology: Vivo X21, Vivo NEX, and the recent Vivo V11 Pro.
The in-display fingerprint sensing functionality only works on an OLED display which remains inside below the screen and shines with a light when you place your finger building a map of your finger unlocking the device.
Comparatively in-display fingerprint sensors are slow, but it works fine in most of the cases with very minimal failures.
Coming to OnePlus 6T, the upcoming OnePlus device will come with a 0.45 mm thick glass on top compared to OnePlus 6. The OnePlus 6T will have an OLED panel and no physical fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint unlock speeds are expected to be somewhere similar between OP6 and OP6T.
OnePlus 6T is launching on October 17 this year, and the 2018 Apple iPhones are launching tomorrow on September 12.
