What’s Common Between Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, Oppo R15 & Huawei P20?
Since the launch of iPhone X, smartphone companies have copied Apple’s design language of an elongated display with a notch
Last year, dual-cameras and 18:9 widescreen displays took the forefront to rule the smartphone trends. But, Apple took the widescreen technology to the next level by launching the anniversary iPhone edition with a bezel-less edge-to-edge display. It had to cut a small notch at the top to accommodate its front camera and sensors. It soon caught the fancy of Android smartphone manufacturers.
After a series of iPhone X inspirations at the MWC 2018, and half a dozen coming up in the next few months, the notch seems to be the next big thing in the smartphone industry. Asus, Huawei, LG and now Oppo and Xiaomi. Google has even included the support for the notch in its developer preview of upcoming Android P.
Since the launch of iPhone X, smartphone companies have copied Apple’s design language of an elongated display with a notch. The new members of the list are Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition.
