Letv Rebrands Itself to LeEco, Unveils New Logo
Letv has caused quite a flutter in the Indian market with its ‘Super phones’ and an array of Super devices like 3D helmet, Internet connected cycle and bluetooth headphones. Little did we know that Letv is planning a major overhaul to its name and branding as well.
The Chinese company has rebranded itself as LeEco with a fancy new logo to match the name. Since the company is moving ahead of its domestic market and expanding into other nations, including India, there was a need to brand itself in line with its future plans and ideas. A press conference called ‘Global Brand Upgrade’ was held on January 12, to unveil the new name and logo. Going global, Le Ecosystem is company’s own ecosystem of keeping its services connected to its users through every medium and device. It is essentially an online platform with content, devices and applications.
Here is what company said about the new logo at the press conference – The new logo consists of the letters “L” and “E”, conveying the quintessence of the Le Eco world with its simple and elegant design. The four strokes which comprise “LE” each represent one of the four tiers of the Le Ecosystem – Platform, Content, Device and Application. The dot formed by the overlapping of two strokes symbolizes the pivot of the entire ecosystem: EUI and Le Fans. The connection and interaction between the letters “L” and “E” expresses the LeEco spirit of constant disruption, breaking boundaries and eco synergy. The three colors of blue, red and green plus the all-inclusive color of grey represent the integration of technology, culture and the Internet within the Le Ecosystem.
Ablikim Ablimit, Le Holdings’ Vice President of Strategy, said, “Letv is where we started, but LeEco is our future. We will create a more beautiful eco world with new value for our users. And our brand-new logo will bring users into this exciting world.” Letv.com also has been changed to Le.com, to ensure everything comes under the Le Ecosystem, keeping away from the older Letv, which was only about online content.
Other significant updates and launches at the press conference:
- While expanding to other countries, Le Ecosystem will bring everyone under the umbrella of the connected ecosystem, hence maintaining uniformity
- Super TV X65, a 65-inch 4K Smart-TV priced at RMB 4,999, which is way less than the competition right now. The TV comes with Mstar 6A928 SoC, a quad-core 1.4GHz processor coupled with high-end graphics using quad-core Mali T760 GPU, 3GB RAM and 16GB ROM, and supports 60fps H.265/HEVC 4K hardware decoding. All this is more than enough for a smart TV at such a fantastic price
- Expansion of Le Cloud and Le Vision Pictures in 2016 to capture other markets and launch more intuitive services for its users
LeEco intends to have the TV listed in top 3 in smart TV industry which is not a very difficult target to attain, considering the dearth of cheaper smart TVs with such features. We hope LeEco launches similar gadgets in the country, since the market is already mature for them.
