Whatsapp, Flipkart, Vodafone Top Indian Consumers Mindshare [Nielsen]

According to Nielsen consumer rankings, Mobile Messaging App – Whatsapp, Online retailer – Flipkart, Telecom Operator – Vodafone and Mobile manufacturer – Nokia top the rankings that are based on consumer experience and popularity for urban Indians.

Popular Consumer Mobile Apps

While Whatsapp is the most popular app among Indian consumers, Facebook comes in at 2^nd followed by Android app store Google play.

It is quite surprising that Google play is more popular than Youtube (5^th), Gmail (7^th) or Maps (10^th) application, showing that consumers are highly interested in downloading mobile apps.

A surprising entry at 8^th is Tubesmate, a youtube video downloader. I was personally not aware of this even after being an Android user for so long.

Popular Mobile Handsets

Nokia remains the most popular mobile handset with Indians, followed by Samsung and Blackberry. Sony comes in at 4th. Although Motorola has closed down its operations in India, it trumps Micromax to become 5^th most popular handset among Indians. Karbonn is 7^th popular followed by LG at 8^th

Popular Online Retail Website

Flipkart remains the most popular e-tailer amongst Indians, followed by Ebay. While Homeshop18 trumps even Snapdeal to take the 3rd position. While Jabong attracts highest traffic among all online retailers, it is ranked 6^th behind Indiaplaza.com.

Yebhi.com ranks 7th in minds of Indian consumers followed by Amazon.com, Fashionandyou.com and Myntra.com at 8^th, 9^th and 10^th positions.

Mobile Operator ranking on Quality

Even though Airtel is the largest telecom operator in India, Vodafone takes the cake ahead of them when it comes to consumer ranking on quality. Idea comes in as 3rd best.
