In the last quarter, Wipro recorded a headcount of 15,446 employees, as revealed by the company during the announcement of the second quarter results.
As per Chief Executive Officer of Wipro, Thierry Delaporte, the firm hired 14000 freshers in the first half of the financial year. Wipro also said that it hired more than 10,000 freshers in the first quarter.

As per reports, Wipro has joined the pack of Indian corporates calling their employees back to offices as the Covid-19 pandemic has subsided and things are getting back to normal.
Wipro said that it has called employees back to offices starting Oct 10, 2022, with those in leadership positions having to join back for three days a week.

NITES Demands Action Against Wipro For Fake Promises
There has been the news that IT employee union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has submitted a letter to the Ministry of Labour and Employment requesting immediate action against Wipro for the delay in the onboarding of more than 2000 students.
Wipro promised to upgrade the salary of these students to Rs 6,50,000 per year on the condition that they pass the training program with 60% & above marks. However, some students haven’t received upgraded offer letters and those who have received them say their joining date is being postponed every month.
They are receiving this treatment despite clearing the assessments, interviews, internship, training and background verification.
No Remuneration For Lost Time
As if that wasnt enough, the company has started sending rejection emails to these students stating that they were not compliant with the company’s assessment guidelines. It hasn’t compensated these people for their time and efforts over the past year.
There have been cases reported of candidates being offered a job by the Indian IT behemoth Wipro and after having attended a fixed period of unpaid internship programme conducted by the company to get a fixed position in the giant, they complete the program only to get rejected by the company.
