Rail Passengers In This City Can Now Get Confirmed Berths Inside Train Itself: TTs Get Hand-Held Devices
In Pune, in case one does not have a confirmed ticket but a seat is available on the train, they will no longer need to request a Ticket Collector (TC) to obtain it.
Directly Getting A Ticket
The reason is when the passenger chart is put up, information regarding the available number of seats is displayed on mobile and the screen at the station, before the arrival of the train.
Another development is that passengers will be able to get a confirmed ticket on the train itself.
The way this will work is that while the current chart is being prepared, if the seat is available, the passengers can immediately get a ticket.
They will also get to know in which coaches, and how many seats with the seat number are available.
Confirm tickets will be available on the train itself, so there will be no penalty without a ticket.
Preventing Illegal Seat Occupancy
The railway administration observed that when seats are available between some of the middle stations in long haul trains, passengers without a ticket occupy those with the help of TCs.
The Railway Board acted on this a few years ago to prevent this type of fraud and to bring transparency in the work of ticket inspection.
Curbing this practice will happen with the help of HHT machines.
They will be provided to ticket supervisors on certain trains such as Shatabdi, Humsafar, etc.
The Pune Railway Division has received 96 Hand Held Terminal (HHT) machines from the Railway Board through which this facility will be available.
HHT Machines
The HHT machine will be with the TC.
It will have a SIM card which will be directly connected to the reservation centre.
After checking the box, the number of the seat on which there is no passenger will get recorded in the machine.
This will be available at the reservation centres once it is done.
Therefore, passengers at the station will get information about this.
These machines will be operational once the technical work is completed.
