Delivery time
Zomato is hoping to deliver food to customers within 3 to 6 minutes with the delivery partner going at 20 kilometres per hour.
10 minute delivery only for certain food items in certain places
In a Twitter thread Goyal said that the 10 minute food delivery will only happen for some food items and select customer locations. He was responding after the social media questioned how it will be able to deliver good quality food in such a short time span.
How will items be delivered this quickly?
Previously, Goyal had said that his quick delivery promises will be achieved by relying on a dense finishing stations’ network, which will be located in close distance to high-demand customer neighbourhoods.
The company will also rely heavily upon high level technology like dish-level demand prediction algorithms and in-station robotics to ensure that the food is sanitary, fresh, and hot at the time it is picked up by the delivery partner.
Prices may reduce because of 10 minute deliveries
Zomato will provide bestseller items which will include some 20-30 dishes across its finishing stations from the partner restaurants based on predictability. The company also claims that after implementing the 10-minute model, the prices of the items will also get reduced.
Zomato Instant as it will be called, will start a pilot with four stations in Gurugram from April.
