Tata Motors is working on CNG versions of its entry-level automobiles, which could be available later this year.
Vijay Shinde, an automotive aficionado, recently spotted a Tiago test mule in Pune. The test mule was not fully camouflaged and featured a tag that read, “On Test By ARAI.” It was equipped with emission testing equipment at the back.
The penultimate round of testing before the official introduction is likely to be the ARAI emission/mileage ratings.
CNG Version Of Tiago
Design
There is no drastic changes in the CNG models in terms of design or dimensions.
Specifications of the Powertrain will be powered by the same 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine. Although the CNG variations are anticipated to provide a lower power, this unit produces 85 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. It will come equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission. The regular variants also get the option of a 5-speed AMT.
Upcoming CNG Tata Cars
Tata also intends to provide CNG as an option on a broader range of vehicles. Tigor, Altroz, and Nexon SUV are all possible candidates. Tiago is expected to be the first of these.
Tiago CNG could be available by Diwali 2021. The Hyundai Aura is the only competitor in Tigor’s class that has a CNG powerplant option.
Along with the Nexon and Altroz, the Tiago
is one of Tata Motors’ best-selling vehicles. Tiago’s monthly sales are in the
6k-8k level. Tata might expect a sales increase following the launch of the CNG
range.
