Holi Celebrations Banned In Delhi, Mumbai; Another Lockdown In Mumbai If This Happens
2nd wave of coronavirus has now gripped the nation, and various State Governments are trying their best to contain the virus.
In this endeavour, most of the states have started banning Holi celebrations, and talks are on for yet another lockdown.
Holi Celebrations Banned In Delhi, Mumbai
New Delhi and Mumbai, two of the biggest metropolitans in India has completely banned all sort of private and public Holi celebrations.
As per a directive issued by Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), all festivals including Holi, Navratri etc wont be allowed to have pubic gatherings and celebrations this year.
Delhi Govt will also randomly test people at railway stations, airports, and other public places.
Besides, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mumbai has also banned all public and private Holi celebrations in the city.
Random tests of people in public places have already started in Mumbai.
Another Lockdown In Mumbai?
Meanwhile, as total cases touched 25 lakh in Maharashtra, and new cases in Mumbai and Pune, along with Nagpur, Nasik and other big cities have touched a new high, talks are on for yet another lockdown in the state.
State Health Minister Rajesh Tope said, “If the number of daily cases in the state remains in the range of 25,000 to 30,000 for the next some days, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government may impose lockdown-like restrictions in some cities, including Mumbai”
Mumbai city is getting around 3000 new cases daily, while the state is reporting more than 24,000 cases on a daily basis.
However, traders and businesses have appealed to State Govts not to impose yet another lockdown, since it will crush the economy, and jobs will be lost.
Rather, they have said that people should be made aware about the precautions and encouraged to wear masks.
