It’s been a while since the Railway Ministry is evidently bringing reforms to level up the experience of passengers in rail journeys. As we reported, recently the railway ministry’s first-ever 3 tier economy class air-conditioned train. Most of the newer trains are equipped with  European-styled Vistadome coaches.

Where Will The New Coaches Be Used?

Vistadome Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) railway coaches are majorly installed in places where tourism is seen in abundance. The large glass windows, transparent glass rooftop, 180 degrees rotatable seats give an entirely different experience of sightseeing to tourists.

Currently, these coaches are already installed in few trains running in Dadar and Madgaon, Araku Valley, Kashmir Valley, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Kalka Shimla Railway, Kangra Valley Railway, Matheran Hill Railway, Nilgiri Mountain Railway all of which are prominent tourist destinations.

Features of Vistadome Coaches

As the coaches are majorly targeting tourists, the coaches provided a lot of facilities for the convenience of travelers. Along with the enormous windows, transparent rooftop, there is a separate observatory lounge at one end with an even larger sized window. Besides, the air-spring suspension installed in the coach ensures a more comfortable journey.

Talking about comfort, its news to be mentioned that the coach also has an entertainment system in the combined form of digital display screens and speakers. There is a mini pantry containing a hot case, microwave oven, coffee maker, bottle cooler, refrigerator, and washbasin to keep the passengers refreshed. Also, each passenger seat is given a dedicated mobile charging socket.

The coaches are equipped with a passenger information system which is based on Wifi. A PS-based Public Address-cum Passenger Information System (PAPIS) also installed along with automatic shutting doors.  The toilets are visually appealing and have a pressurized flushing system. The fire detection system and CCTV surveillance installed in the coaches take the security to another level.

The Railway ministry is looking forward to using these coaches throughout the country in the future.
