Jio Starts 5G Testing As Rollout Promised After July, 2021; Jio’s Profits Rise By 15.5%
5G is not a speculation anymore. Muskeh Ambani is all set to turn it into reality. Though Reliance Jio is the fastest internet provider currently, the company is as usual aiming higher.
The company has started performing tests to develop the high speed fifth generation internet network. We may be able to experience and enjoy the fastest 5G internet speed by the end of this year.
Hurdles Faced By Jio
The mammoth business Reliance is waiting for the Government to make the spectrum of airwaves required for 5G network available in India. With the amount of money that its parent company has, Jio can easily access the spectrum whenever it is available.
However, the government has not announced the dates of the auction for 5G airwaves yet. Jio might even lay hands on the spectrum at a very low price in the auction since most of its rivals may not be ready with the necessary arrangements. Hence, early preparations and tests for 5G might be the strategy of Reliance.
According to the earlier reports, the Government had announced that it will conduct the spectrum auction only for 4G airwaves in March.
Jio’s Aim For India
Jio brought a revolution in the world of telecommunications by providing the cheapest plans and free voice calls during its release in 2016. Since then, the company hasn’t looked back and has set even higher targets for itself.
Reliance chairman, Mukesh Ambani had shared his vision of making India 2G-mukt i.e free from 2G network. Looking at the pace with which Jio is working towards 5G technology, it seems like that day may come sooner than expected.
“Jio will continue to accelerate the roll-out of its digital platforms and indigenously developed next-generation 5G stack and make it affordable and available everywhere,” he said.
Monopoly Of Jio
Currently, Reliance Jio, India’s largest mobile network operator has around 411 million users. The company reported a surge of 15.5% in profits in the December quarter as compared to the one before that. It’s net income also increased by 13% in the last year.
The competence of Jio has already made its rivals bend down on knees. While some network providers went bankrupt, strong players like Vodafone and Idea were compelled to collaborate in order to survive the wave of Jio.
By working on the 5G technology, Jio intends to snatch 300 million more 2G users from its rival companies who still provide the 2nd generation internet networks.
